Synopsis:
Silver, bank notes - the space between power, vanishing the old
The commercial war joins the stage. Exciting the soul, frightening the heart!

Chai Bak Chuen (Moses Chan Ho) is a descendent of a government official. His family was framed and sentenced to beheading, but luckily, he managed to survive and escape. He becomes the disciple of Kiu Boon Yip (John Chiang Dai Wai), the boss of Shanxi's first bank, Ding Fung Sing.

Chuen realizes that Ba Ba Ha Yi Ko Wai (Sonija Kwok Sin Nei) is a foreigner because she feels inferior, so doesn't dare to show her love. Meanwhile, the Kiu's second young mistress, Kiu Jun (Tavia Yeung Yi) and the military aircraft official, Cheung Sung Man (Steven Ma Chun Wai) love each other. However, the couple's relationship, because Man has to impartially investigate Ding Fung Sing, meets conflicts.

On one occasion, Ding Fung Sing suffers from big storekeeper Cho Yu Tai's (Lau Dan) frame, almost causing them to go out of business. The imperial court doesn't end harsh laws and furthermore, it asks Ding Fung Sing to keep inflating money. Before Yip's death, he hands Ding Fung Sing to Chuen, who time and time again helped him to overcome difficulties. The merchant fights with wealth, government officials fight still with power. How can Chuen lead Ding Fung Sing in facing the corrupt late Qing government?

My thoughts: I was stoked about Land of Wealth since its costume fitting ceremony. The leads are all my favorites and the production just seems very, very attractive. I've always had a "thing" for costume series, especially those that are tragic. Wealth seems like a great tragedy and it looks like a memorable and high-quality series too. Dance of Passion had the "looks" of a great series, but not the substance of one - so I'm really hoping that Wealth isn't just for looks either. In any case, it is by far more visually appealing than Dance, from costumes to settings.

I haven't seen Sonija Kwok in so long, so I really miss her. She's not the best actress, but I enjoy watching her. She's very pretty and I hope to see further improvement from her. Steven Ma and Moses Chan are always great to watch, so I know they won't disappoint. While I think Tavia Yeung's performances are always stable, she hasn't won me over yet. Like I've said before, I think her role of "Kiu Jun" should do the trick. The storyline about the first bank of China is fresh and the theme of the "commercial war" sounds very intriguing. I just cannot wait to watch this series!

You can tell how excited and how much expectations I have for this series as I've made it the basis for my newest layout. :) I am just very satisfied with the cast and the scenes look so good and memorable!

There will be more Land of Wealth goods once the series is released.

If there's any error in the translation, please let me know as I was struggling at points to translate it. :P However, I think it "should" be pretty accurate. If not, let me know. I won't get mad as my Chinese sucks so there's bound to be mistakes. Haha.

Thanks for the synopsis. The scenery does look so romantic in the snowy and winter setting. I can't wait to see Tavia and Steven. There is so much chemistry from the pictures alone. A tragic series is exactly what I need right now.

Metal, what do you think of The Price of Greed? Will you do a feature on it? Because Land of Wealth, The Price of Greed and At Home with Love are the series I anticipate the most. Raymond and Yoyo! Yay! They looked so good together in Forensic Heroes, honestly, I was kind of annoyed that they didn't have any romantic ties ... and no one would know if your translation was inaccurate because we don't see the Chinese!

Oh and what is Sonija's name?!?!? It's like, ten characters long!

Thanks so much for translating the article. I've read bits and pieces that its going to be VERY tragic for everyone. Awww but definitely watching this. The costumes are just stunning and I too enjoy all the cast!

sere - You're welcome and I definitely agree with what you said about the scenery and Steven/Tavia.

alice - Metal never stops working. :P

winter_stargirl - Of course I will be doing a feature on The Price of Greed - it's Producer Tsui's 2nd work after VOH and I'm very interested in the theme of the series although I must admit I hate Shirley. Haha.

popcorn - Sonija's character is Mongolian. I'm pretty sure that's her name.

aodinia - No problem! Yep, it is going to be one great tragedy. :D

You have neither seen Twins of Brother nor Vigilante Force, am I correct? :P [These series made me 'fall' for Tavia. And I also notice Nancy Wu's potential in TOB.]

BTW, lovely set of banners. I'm just a bit disappointed that it reminds me of winter, bypassing the beautiful Autumn that just arrived (today). :P Then again, it certainly feels like winter here :( And that icon image of Sonija holds a very captivating expression. Unfortunately, the hug shared with Moses seems to emote less.

I watched Twin of Brothers. Nothing impressive or captivating. I don't like Nancy Wu either. >_< Lol.

I changed the banners back to a summer feel. Honestly, the Land of Wealth set was beautiful at first, but it gets really mundane after awhile. But Linda - I can look at her forever and never feel tired. Haha. :P

I confess, I did not finish TOB - but I did like the performances (minus Ron). And I guess Nancy appealed to me because she took quite a refreshing role and approached it at an interesting angle.

As for your new banners... In terms of aesthetic appeal, without any bias, I find the previous set of "Land of Wealth" more beautiful. And each time you have a Linda layout, the term "love" is somehow integrated. Though this time, it's much more obvious :P

Yes, I agree that the Land of Wealth set had a more artistic feel. But for some reason, I just feel more "comfortable" having Linda as the focus of my banners. Haha. Don't get me wrong - I like Sonija as well, but...

The current Linda set defines my "comeback" mission - to take people's breaths away (ala Linda's shocked and surprised expressions) with more "provacative" and "controversial" articles.

Of course, I still love the first banner set. Linda is so freaking adorable with those glasses. *Drools*

*hands over a tissue* At the rate of your drooling, we may even get an unexpected flood this year (that is assuming the pool won't freeze over first). lol.

I had fun playing with your new banner set :P See the results. :)

BTW, I failed to see the former icon back. Or, are we talking about different things?

I assumed by 'icon' you met Linda. But apparently not. Do you still have the "spin" you made on my very first layout? If so, I would love to see it again.

Haha you're always playing around with my banners. I think I'm going to change them like monthly so you can have more joy every month. ;) I'm so considerate for you!

Oh and I failed to find a "subscription" option. :( Sorry to disappoint! You'll just have to do it the old fashioned way - visit and see when the heck I update. Haha.

By icon, I meant your profile image. It was formerly "Shocking, isn't it?" with the VOH cast. Now, it's "Desperate Housewives".

First banner set - unfortunately, I didn't save it. But it was merely colorization. If you want, you can send me the banner set and I'll "re-spin" it :P

Subscribing - you can always set up a mailing list. But traditional method works too :)

Oh, was I supposed to be thankful toward your consideration? :P

Oh my god! That's one amazing memory you've got there! I searched high and low and couldn't find it. I'm impressed! Thanks so much. *Hugs*

Ahh... that icon. Yes I miss it too... one of my favorite icons that I made. :) But I'm in Desperate Housewives mood now, so hence the change. I "stole" the phrase from DH though. Their slogan last season was "Tempting... isn't it?" so I changed it to "Shocking... isn't it?" to match the surprised looks. :P It was just perfect for my blog at that time since I was launching it and "shocking" people with how good my blog was. ;)
