predicting awards
In July, I predicted successfully that Aimee Chan would take home the Miss Hong Kong 2006 title. Let's see if I can do the same in regards to TVB's 39th Anniversary Awards. The voting for TVB Musings's own anniversary awards is still going on, but let's get reacquainted with the real TVB world and its upcoming anniversary awards.

Personal Favorite(s): Steven Ma, Michael Tse
Why Michael isn't nominated for Best Supporting Actor instead is beyond me. I can understand the logic for him being nominated for leading actor though because he is one of the significant characters of La Femme Desperado and did a superb job. However, I can't help but wish he was in the Best Supporting Actor category instead so that he has a much higher chance of winning an award. Michael has been a great actor all of these years and I'm so happy he's finally getting recognized! He was simply hilarious for years in Virtues of Harmony as the lazy, sickly, and pushover "Ah Yuet" and compelling as "Cheap Man" this year in Femme.
Should Win: Steven Ma
Steven stole Safe Guards. Without him, it wouldn't have been as good. He gives "Seung Chi" so much strength and soul. The viewer is captivated whenever he appears on screen. I've always liked watching Steven and liked him even more after he became a member of my Virtues of Harmony family - bringing such reborn life into it with his charming role of "Ah San."
Will Win: Bobby Au-Yeung
I think Bobby will win because of Forensic Heroes's great success, but like most people, I'm indifferent towards this award because I know my favorite won't win. Don't get me wrong - Bobby is one of my favorite actors and I will be happy if he wins, but I just don't feel very "excited" about Best Actor since it's so under-focused and not competitive at all. It depends on who's hot and who TVB feels like giving it to that year. Whatever TVB does - please don't give it to Joe Ma!
Everyone thought that the The Dance of Passion ladies would rule this category this year just like the War and Beauty concubines in 2004. However, this is not the case because of Dance's lackluster performance. My top 5 prediction? Sheren Tang, Charmaine Sheh, Myolie Wu, Ada Choi, and Yoyo Mung.
Personal Favorite(s): Sheren Tang
Should Win: Sheren Tang
I still think Sheren should have been awarded for her magnificent performance as "Yu Fei" in War and Beauty and I resent the fact that she didn't get it. Sheren is the reason to watch La Femme Desperado (along with Michael Tse). She emits such a strong aura and commands all of her roles so well! I loved "Hilda" and I think Sheren deserves this award, but I know TVB won't give it to her. No matter - Sheren is above that and she doesn't really care, but as a fan, I just want her to receive it for her consistently fine work.
Will Win: Charmaine Sheh
This award will be a battle between Myolie and Charmaine. I think it's too "early" for Myolie to win, but people who sacrifice for their roles are usually awarded... It's hard to say if TVB will hand the Best Actress statue to Myolie or Charmaine. However, I'm thinking Charmaine unless To Grow With Love does extremely well and Myolie blows up. Charmaine's series usually falter in ratings and truthfully, her acting hasn't impressed me as of late; she's been very bland and mechanical. She used to be really good in the early 2000's with her roles in Country Spirit and the likes, but these days... I know Charmaine fans are ready to kill me, but that's my honest opinion. Still, I'm fine with Charmaine, but I really wish she (like Moses Chan) would return to her former greatness.
Personal Favorite(s): Ha Yu, Wayne Lai, Cheung Chi Kwong, Lee Ka Sing
Ha Yu was excellent in When Rules Turn Loose - very endearing. Cheung Chi Kwong and Lee Ka Sing are always so dependable and deliver on their performances.
Should Win: Wayne Lai
Wayne Lai is consistently great and amazing. He is so versatile and makes every role his own. I'm so happy TVB has him as a strong supporting actor. I really hope TVB will give him the award, but I don't think so...
Will Win: Raymond Cho
Raymond Cho found a lot of popularity this year, especially with his role in Forensic Heroes. I think he will win (although I have to say I'm indifferent towards him).
Personal Favorite(s): Helen Ma, Florence Kwok, Rain Lau, Rebecca Chan
While watching The Dance of Passion, I could not believe the actress who played "Gwai Laan" was the same one who gave me endless laughter and entertainment as the greedy, bitchy, and hilarious "Auntie Chuen." But, it was indeed Helen Ma - she is that good. She gave such a creepy, threatening, and fierce performance in Dance. Rain Lau is such an underrated actress and I hope she gets some substantial roles soon. She definitely deserves an award from TVB, but she hasn't found the role (or rather TVB hasn't given her the role) to win yet. Still, she's great with her versatility in comedy and drama. Rebecca Chan is so good. Although she had no lines in Dance, her eyes and subtle expressions spoke for themselves - brilliant!
Should Win: Florence Kwok
I'm so happy to see Florence Kwok back in the TVB world. I hope she stays. Florence acts not for fame or money, but for the art of acting itself. She is always so good and I think she deserves an award (something long overdue).
Will Win: N/A
There's no "hot favorite" this year and it's hard to tell who TVB will give it to. Natalie Tong is currently winning the poll for this award and I'm fine if she gets it... but I'd rather see Natalie win for Most Improved Actress or something.
Personal Favorite(s): Sammul Chan
Should Win: Sammul Chan
I'm really surprised by how much I've grown to like Sammul. I used to think his performances were so pretentious, but he has come a long way. I really enjoy watching him now.
Will Win: Kevin Cheng
Those of you who "know" me know that I do not like Kevin, but the award for Most Improved Actor has Kevin's name written all over it. The popularity of Under The Canopy of Love and Kevin's soaring profile in the media tips the scales much in his favor. Besides, Miss Lok loves him - what other reason does TVB need to give it to him? I don't like watching Kevin and don't see what's so great about him.
Obviously, this is the only award I really care about this year, but then again... not so much. Last year, I believed that Most Improved Actress would have a lot of competition in 2006. Sadly, there isn't a "strong" contender or much competition for this award this year.
Personal Favorite(s): Linda Chung
"What! Not all Linda's for this category?" That's what a lot of you are probably thinking. The truth is, I do love Linda, but I do not believe she is good enough for this award yet.
She impressed me so much with her debut as "Ah Lam" in Virtues of Harmony II because she was so surprisingly natural, effectively portraying many aspects of the role's split personality and charmingly making "Ah Lam" come alive from the pages of the script. Linda has a lot of potential and I eagerly awaited her post-Virtues roles. She delivered with Always Ready. Her crying scenes were so touching, but her performance was only good in half of the series. She falters and comes off too still in the GFS scenes in the first half and becomes comfortable with the role only after her romance with Ekin Cheng commences and more of her personal story is told. With The Biter Bitten, Linda lights up the screen with her incredibly cute and sweet role of "Dan Dan." She looked beautiful in that series as well. I seriously believe that Shirley Yeung gave Linda "acting tips" when she played "Ding Ding" in Forensic Heroes - either that of Linda modeled after Shirley. Her mannerism was so forced, exaggerated, and reminded of Shirley's (irritating and fake) style of "acting." It didn't help that "Ding Ding" is like a Shirley role... meaning the only role that Shirley can play. It was refreshing to see Linda finally in a young role and she was quite cute and funny, but I can't help but feel she tried too hard.
Her recent bad press of NG's and lack of experience and professionalism has also disheartened me a bit. As a result, I don't think Linda should receive the award just yet. I want Linda to win with a breakthrough role that showcases her acting abilities and improvement. Thus far, she hasn't had it. Still, I support Linda and if she wins (and I'm hoping she doesn't), I will be happy for her, but I rather she doesn't this year. She still has much to learn, grow, and improve on before she should get it.
Should Win: Selena Li
Selena has really impressed me with her acting and improvements. Although she's not on my "favorites" list, I have to admit she is maturing into a nice actress and deserves the award. If To Grow With Love does well and Selena becomes more popular from her role in that series, then I think TVB will give it to her.
Will Win: N/A
I really don't know. The strongest candidate is Linda and all arrows point to her for winning, but... Tavia Yeung is leading the polls right now for this award, but I doubt TVB will give it to her a second time. I hope TVB won't be so "outrageous" and hand the award to Toby Leung (my worst fear) because of her father's power/position. Sharon Chan? I don't think so and hope not. Leila Tong? Nope; she's not under TVB management and until she signs, she won't ever win anything. Natalie Tong is good, but I don't think TVB will give her the award. All in all, this award is most unpredictable and I both anticipate and fear the result because my feelings about Most Improved Actress are so conflicted.
Personal Favorite(s): Steven Ma - Seung Chi, Michael Tse - Man King Leung, Bowie Lam - Yim Man Hei
"Cheap Man" is one character you grow from hating to loving. La Femme Desperado develops this character so well and it is portrayed impeccably by Michael. The more you learn about his character, the more you understand, forgive, and like him. I also love the romance he shares with "Hilda" (Sheren Tang) - a very unique and touching relationship. "Yim Man Hei" has many layers to his character and I found it so fascinating to watch and learn more about this unpredictable man. Like "Cheap Man," he starts off so repulsive, but by the end, when everything is stripped away and he is who he is... he's someone who's so compassionate and human.
Should Win: Steven Ma - Seung Chi
"Seung Chi" is the epitome of what every man aspires to be. He's smart, brave, and righteous. Mind you - he's not "perfect." He has his flaws and insecurities, but he works so hard for the better of his family (no matter how badly they treat him) that it's admirable. This character makes Safe Guards and he is my favorite male character of the year - excellently written and charismatically acted by Steven.
Will Win: Raymond Lam - Chai Foon
Girls love "Chai Foon" because he's so charming and does many sweet things for "Ko Ling" (Melissa Ng), but I dislike "Siu Chai." The role is irritating and poorly written. However, Raymond did a great job with the role and he finally broke his "ratings curse" with La Femme Desperado. I think TVB will give Ray the award as a consolation prize since they value him a lot.
Personal Favorite(s): Sheren Tang - Hilda, Niki Chow - Ko Yat Sze, Ada Choi - Chiu Yuk
Niki makes "Yat Sze" come alive. She is so cute and charming in Under the Canopy of Love that she is a big reason why I ended up loving it. Niki's acting is so good and she just bubbles with so much charisma. Ada is one of the better things about The Dance of Passion. She dominates her scenes and gives it so much depth and heart. As a viewer, you grow to like her the best out of all the Dance ladies. Her role is similar to "Yu Fei" from War and Beauty.
Should Win: Sheren Tang - Hoi Kiu (Hilda)
Like "Cheap Man," "Hilda" is both written and portrayed brilliantly. I love her power, intelligence, and determination. She is really a "lui keung yan." Although she depicts herself as fierce, "Hilda" is scared of being hurt and she's not so secure or brave as she makes herself out to be. Sheren portrayed "Hilda"'s multi-faceted personality excellently and I loved watching this female character the most this year.
Will Win: Myolie Wu - Ho Mei Tin
If Myolie doesn't win Best Actress (and my gut feeling tells me she won't), then she will most definitely win this award. Her image as "Fat Tin" is super adorable and I think she will be the reason to watch To Grow With Love. I'm pretty sure "Fat Tin" will be this year's "Li Siu Ho" and Myolie will gain a lot of popularity from it.
Personal Favorite(s): When Rules Turn Loose, Safe Guards, La Femme Desperado, Under The Canopy of Love
Should Win: La Femme Desperado
Will Win: La Femme Desperado
Hands down the series of the year is La Femme Desperado. Safe Guards had a superb script too, but ratings-wise, Femme is the winner. Hong Kong loves this series. Femme is wonderfully and brilliantly daring, scandalous, shocking, and provocative. It reminds of Desperate Housewives and Sex and the City in several ways. TVB really did a great job with Femme. I hope it wins; it deserves to and it should.
Your thoughts: Who do you think will win? Who are your favorites? Who do you support? Or are the TVB anniversary awards so corrupt that you could care less about it?

It will be fun to see how right or wrong I am in a few weeks. :)
*Sigh* Still so conflicted with Linda over Most Improved Actress. I want her to win, but I know she's not strong enough as an actress for it yet and that there are better people than her, but... The pain of being a fan. :P
I just hope Charmaine fans won't kill me for being honest. >_< But... at least I support her for Best Actress, right?!

Personally, I think that TVB anniversary awards are so corrupted. It seems like TVB just give the award to whomever they favor at the moment. The people with talents are the ones who usually goes home empty handed. It is quite sad to see how TVB is degrading their actors and actresses. I really wish they have better series in the future like they use to. It's quite depressing to see all the new young faces who are so inexperience.
21.10.06
Some news media diclosed that Sharon Chan will win this year Most Improved Actress and Micheal Tse will be winning the Most Improved Actor?! Samuel Chan might not win this awrds as he is not under TVB too (same case as Leila Tong?!!)Seriously without Bernice it's funny. As for Linda, i think she is OK.I dun really trust what the media report on her NGs and stuff. The media is far away from the filming set how they knows all details? I wonder did they add salt and made-up the stories?? If Linda this bad, TVB will kick her ass and give her a good scolding and she wouldn't be cast in series. But most of the producers worked with Linda more than once! So i think she should be ok?!! All I know is Linda's cantonese is not very good, i think she is trying hard.
The only one i really dun wish to see who will win this improved award is Toby Leung. She is no talent and no acting skills, yet she gets to act in so many maga-productions. But still dun be surprised if Toby wins.
As for the actress award, personal favourite is Sheren Tang, but still she is outsider, so her chances slims down again. So whoever (Charmaine or Myolie)win, me not interested cos they still got a long way to go.
The Best Actor, there is a high chance Kevin Cheng will win (he is way too old to get Most Improved Actor)and with his special good relations with Miss Lok, this is not surprising.
21.10.06
Best Actor - Bobby Au sounds like a sound choice. [Has he won before?]
Best Actress - don't want it to be Charmaine, but... TVB is most likely going to give it to her. Nonetheless, both Ada and Sheren deserve it heaps more. But in TVB-world, the deserving is not necessarily the winner. And I don't think Yoyo will be amongst the top five. [Wasn't Liza Wang supposed to be on the list?]
Supporting Actress - Helen Ma scared me to death. I literally was having goosebumps. *shivers*
Most Improved Actor - I've come to like Sammul much, as well. And Kevin is indeed most likely to win this category, though his performance has been steady if not getting worse... Quite an irony.
Most Improved Actress - I haven't seen Selena Li act (aside from TLB). Tavia Yeung should not win the title, because that's more degrading than anything. And I think your love for Linda has made you too hypercritical. To me, she rightly deserves the award. [A breakthrough performance is reserved for the "Best Actress" category, not "Most Improved" :P]
Favorite Female Character - Hilda all the way. And quite funnily, her partner - Ko Ling - should win Least Favorite if there's such a category.
Best Series - Ditto.
21.10.06
We share similar preferences. However I didn't find any brilliancy in La Femme. I didn't feel it really showed the difficulty and struggles of being a woman. I will be happy if Steven wins best actor but if he doesn't, i'm fine. Since TVB awards are so corrupt and rigged.
21.10.06
great analysis ;) looking forward to know the results.. :)
22.10.06
o.O awesome analysis. I agree with almost everything you said, especially the most improved actress award. I understand that kind of feeling. If you really like an artist, you would one him/her to win an award for something to remember forever, a win which he/she truly deserves. That is a true fan man! For most improved actress, I have been rooting hard for Leila Tong ever since 2004. If tvb can give it to Niki Chow (who is still not contracted until today), they can give it to Leila as well. ((: My hopes are not high, but Leila has all my support! :D By the way, Tavia, Michael Tse or STEVEN MA winning most improved award?!? I take that as an insult for them. Please, tvb! Don't be crazy!
22.10.06

All i can say are the following names are those i dun wish to see them win this award this year:- Toby Leung/Kate Tsui/Katie Chow)
[Media Predicted Winner :- Sharon Chan]
22.10.06
agree that steven should get best actor. but bobby's chance seems higher because of his rank in tvb. *shrugs*
i don't think yoyo will be in the top 5 (best actress). would rather see louisa so instead.
i've been voting for wayne (best supporting actor) like crazy so i hope he wins (yeah i know voting does nothing much but hope it hints to tvb that lotsa ppl think that he's the best person to win the award). raymond cho is just so-so to me =/
i've always thought that best supporting actress is meant for veteran actresses (or those who have acted for years).. so i was shocked when i knew natalie was leading the poll results.
most improved actor is definitely going to kevin cheng. period.
no comments on most improved actress though. i've got no favorites but i'll be happy for whoever that wins. hey metal u're different from any other fan that keeps claiming how perfect their idol(s) is ;)
best series: LFD =D
22.10.06
The tension b/w Myolie and Charmaine's fans are raising!!!
Actually no matter who will win doesn't really matter! I think both Louisa So + Sheren Tang + Ada Choi are a few actress i think can act. They deserve to win(especially Sheren and Louisa)
As for the most improved actress, if toby leung wins, it only shows have a good backing in TVB is very important! If Kate Tsui wins, it only shown MHK is TVB main grooming icon no matter whether they can act or got talent or not. If Kathy Chow wins??? Tvb into plastic surgery models???
Best supporting actress my vote is for Helen Ma, she really caught my attention in DOP.Further more Tvb should give her an award, after all Helen Ma has been working in TVB after the Shaw Movie Dynasty closed down and from leading swordwoman to now supporting actress,it's time to give her some acting credits. Dun give these senior actresses credit only after they passed away...

Wah! So many wonderful comments to reply to. Thanks you guys. :)
anonymous #1 - Yeah, that sounds about right.
anonymous #2 - I don't think age matters for "Most Improved." Although it's generally been given to "newcomers," the award is suppose to reward those who show great improvements in their acting. But honestly, to me, it's been more like "the award of the new stars we value most" type of thing.
anonymous #2 & tkn - As for Linda, if nothing happened, the media wouldn't have been able to take pictures. No matter how much they twist the report, the pictures still validate some points of their report... I think Linda was having bad days because she was sick during those filming days. But she generally gets on well with people that she works with. But, as an actress, it is embarrassing to use eyedrops and NG so many times. :( She is not the first, but I always believed Linda valued her crying scenes because during the Always Ready filming, she said she could cry easily because she was touched by the script and thought of sad events.
So I really don't know why she resorted to eyedrops and it makes me question her integrity as an actress. I know I shouldn't, but it's better coming from me as a fan to criticize her than from haters who care nothing about her at all but just wish to see her fail. :\ I just hope Linda can mature because I know she has potential for greatness and I don't want to see her succumb to shortcuts that won't help her the long way.
Besides, what good would it do if everyone kept telling her "Oh you're doing great, nice job" and so on? Linda does try really hard and she has improved, but not to the level that I thought or hoped for yet.
sere - Wow! I'm surprised you didn't like LFD. I can understand your point that it wasn't really focusing on women's hardships though.
jollee - Thanks!
djfrostbite - I know. You'll faint if Linda wins. Hahaha. :P I just want Linda to improve herself more before taking the award. Besides, awards don't really mean anything and I want her to get it when she deserves it. She has said she'll work hard regardless of the results and I believe her.
lynn - Thanks for sharing the media's prediction! I hope they're wrong. :P They better be... Kate Tsui for best supporting actress? Ridiculous and an insult to all the veterans!
anon - Hehe lying and purposely saying your idol is great and perfect when it's clear they have flaws is not a good way to support. Rather, fans should offer constructive criticism so their idols can become greater rather than settling for mediocracy or below. :)
anonymous #3 - Can you elaborate more on the Shaw Movie Dynasty that you mentioned in regards to Helen Ma? I've never heard about that before and it sounds interesting. I would like to know more if you could tell us. :D Thanks in advance!
22.10.06
Helen Ma, Ha Ping,Lee Yan and Lee Lay Lay(acts as Linda Chung's mother in Tong Sum Fong Pao)have been acting since young and all are quite popular in the 60s~70s.
Helen Ma like Cheng Pei Pei, always acts as brave heroines in acient moives. Only Cheng Pei Pei became a more household name than Helen Ma. (Lee Lay Lay is also another sword fighting heroine during that time.)However as time passes, age caught up and Shaw Movie seeing HK movies industry are declining,Sir Run Run Shaw invested in TVB and most of them continue to work under TVB. As time passes until our generation, we always see them as the young stars parents/grandparents forgetting they were once popular icon too!
Another few names i heard my mum mentioning be4:- Chow Cong, Lau Kong,Lo Gun Lan,Kong Hon and etc...

Wow! I had no idea. Never knew they all used to act as brave heroines in movies. Thanks for sharing this info. :) I love watching the veterans, especially Helen Ma & Ha Ping.
22.10.06
Thanks for sharing your predictions hithere05!
22.10.06
I'm not predicting but I just voice out my opinions about who should win and who should not. hehe
Best ACtress:
Charmaine or Sheren
Everyone knows how great Sheren is
For Charmaine, I think her performaces have been very consistent through most series. Though she might gets outshined by others sometimes but she portrays all her roles very well and does what her roles suppose to be.
Ada's performance in DOP is also exceptional but for some reason, I just want to place Charmaine first since I think she deserves to win.
For Myolie - I personally don't think it's her turn yet. I think her acting is great but I just don't understand why the media has to be so "hype" about "To Grow With Love" when the series hasn't aired yet. She can wait a few more years (or maybe she can win next year for "The Changing Times"? lolz just kidding)
Best Actor
only if WAD was aired in HK, the best actor should go to Sunny Chan. hehe but too bad...Micheal Tse is my next choice. His performance is outstanding in LFD.
Most Improved
Linda - I don't thik she is strong enough as an actress. She impressed me with "VOH2" but then somehow I didn't think her performances were really good in "Always Ready" and "Forensic Heroes", maybe it has something to do with the cute roles that she portrays. Her face expressions were quite forced in some aspects. Yes she did improved, but not to the point where she should get the "Most Improved".
Leila - too bad she's not under TVB management otherwise she should have gotten it.
I agree with you Metal that Selena should win.
23.10.06
Yay you didn't delete your comment this time. :) Lol don't you worry about it not being "good enough" - every comment is good!
23.10.06
Best Actress: Charmaine did well as chun fun, i liked the way her character grew stronger towards the end. Never liked myolie ever since WarOfInLaws. I was too traumatised by the overacting, and her portrayal+role in WarNDestiny annoyed me. Sheren was outstanding, but i don't think she is popular enough for tvb to give it to her. Overall my choice is Ada who really impressed me and re-ignited my love for her since the previously great Lok Sun.
Best Actor: I love ray but Siu Chai is such a bad nomination. If only LWOLAP got its rightful popularity and recognition. FungHangLit was truly the male performance of the year. Bobby as Tim Sir reminded me of Grisom in CSI, but the role is weak since FH is case-oriented. Agree that Sunny was great in WarnDestiny, what a pity. And maybe i should rent Safe Guards after all the comments abt steven!
Most Improved Actress: Leila is my personal fav, and i have been supporting her ever since years ago. Very unfortunate and upsetting that uncontracted artistes cant win usually. Leila impresses with all her roles. She and sunny are the reasons to contd WarnDestiny for me.
Most Improved Actor: yea, what is so good about kevin apart from the above average looks. Sammul really acted well in BarBenders, showed his versatility. Looking forward to seeing him in MV.
Fav series: UTCOL was too typical lovey dovey stuff. I struggled to finish the show. LFD was fun, but became a bit distasteful and slacked off after a while. DOP in my opinion was intense, and fantastic! Personal fav was LWOLAP, haha how unusual right. Always Ready was enjoyable too. Thank god WarnDestiny was warehoused, its terribly tedious to watch.

Best Series:
I know a lot of people will disagree with me but I love "Dance of Passion". It's very deep and thought-provoking. The plot and the characterization were very well written. But considering it's not well recieved like LFD in HK, i don't think it will recieve any awards.
LFD is next in line cuz it is a drama that deals with social isues in today's society. It ephasizes on human nature and all those stuff.
24.10.06
*scratch head* I thought Tavia already won the Most Improved Award already back when she was in that cop series with Bowie.
*scratch head again* And why did Myolie get a nomination when her series isn't even aired yet?
27.10.06
bb - Oh no! Is War and Destiny that bad? :(
triumph2004 - Dance of Passion was okay but too over-the-top. It was indeed thought-provoking after I finished it, but my overall impression of it isn't that positive.
move2tbeats - Tavia did win already, but there's no "law" that says you can't win twice. :P To Grow With Love was going to air prior to the anniversary, so that's why it was nominated. It is currently airing now...
27.10.06
Metal, I'm waiting to read your reviews and criticisms on DOP haha. I guess people just have different opinions, just like how you love VOH and I hate it to death hehe :)
28.10.06
VOH to me was quite pointless and a forgettable comedy. I thought Kindred Spirit (same type of family relationship-long running series) was so much more meaningful though it ended a long time ago.
28.10.06
Oh my god! =O You have some nerve to say that to me at my own site. >_< After all these years, I already know how you feel. You didn't have to restate it in words again. -_-

sorry didn't mean to offend you :D hehe

Tavia looks like a sure bet to win that award, again. It would look bad for her to lose, though, because it would indicate her acting has turned for the worse. It might be the ingrained mentality that one always goes up, not down.
Myolie's series To Grow With Love is airing right now, and she is nominated? Wow, either the series is really, really good that could propel her to win, since her performance would still be fresh in the viewers' minds, or someone must be smoking #@%# in the first place ;)

Not yet the "big" day, and I'm already consumed with shere shock.
For Best Actor, Bobby didn't even make it to the top five (a more disheartening news when I realized he never won the award before). Your favorite - Steven Ma - didn't either. And just when you thought it couldn't get worse, Kevin made it to top five. lol!
At this rate, I'm predicting Joe & Charmaine to walk home with the trophies, both for "Maidens' Vow".
Oh btw, good luck coping with your LCWD :P
7.11.06
Aww that's so sad that Bobby never won before. :( I thought he did. *Sigh* LCWD has made me "unwell" lately. :P Oh yeah - did you vote for my anniversary awards yet? I want to make sure before I go and add your votes from that comment you made oh-so-many-weeks ago.

My source was unreliable. I double checked; Bobby won for his role in "Witness to a Prosecution". At least, I am comforted with that knowledge. [Then again, these awards have absolutely no weight.]
And didn't I tell you I wouldn't vote. :P If I can indeed submit a ballot with "blank" fields, however, the following are my picks:
Best Long-Running Series: Fun With Titles (Spotlight's a tough contender too)
Best New Series: Deciphering Themesongs
Best Writing in a Comedy: Making of All About Women CD
Best Documentary: The Curse of Maggie Cheung
Most Favorite Satire: Making of All About Women CD
Best Writing in a Drama: Seeking Happiness
Best Reality Series: Who Holds An Employee's Heart
Most Enticing Advertisement: Introducing "The Fanfic"
Outstanding Series of the Year: Making of All About Women CD
BTW, you should have continued "Most Desperate Widow" and feature Ada Choi's character in DOP. :P

Oh thank goodness your source was wrong. :) It would have been such a pity if Bobby truly never won. *Shakes head* You're so stubborn. Thank you for your votes. Unlike Stressed Men, Desperate Widows was a countdown based on desperation... I can't exactly add. :P It would screw up my whole list. Hahaha.

You should have waited until April 11th to host your Awards Ceremony to reflect the Anniversary of TVB Musings. :)
12.11.06
Yes, that would have made more sense... but I wanted my "anniversary celebrations" to be during TVB's time so it could coincide. :P
13.11.06
Speaking of anniversaries, you never did notice the bday poster I've made for you, did you? lol. Well then I guess I can recycle it next year without you knowing :P
13.11.06
Oh my god! What birthday poster?! I should have enabled comments e-mail alerts sooner. Oh well... guess I will have to wait til next year (if you're still around). :P
14.11.06
lol. Enabling that wouldn't help. I posted a msg in your cbox, and my nick was hyperlinked to your bday poster. :P
