sales presentation 2007

TVB Musings is the first place to bring you guys a run down of the TVB Sales Presentation 2007 clips!

Pictures speak louder than words, so why don't you guys go take a look at the 90 captures from the 11 series that were featured in this year's program? I'm sorry that the quality isn't too good and I didn't get many good captures, but at least it's something to see, right? Enjoy these exclusive first look screenshots and download the actual sales presentation clips underneath!

I'm sorry for the misleading sales presentation preview a few days ago. It seems the list posted by the Raymond Lam forum was wrong and that Linda was not filming for an ancient sales presentation clip. It really makes me wonder what she was doing dressing up like that for? I don't know... Anyways, I just wanted to apologize for the misinformation.

I was really upset that there were only 11 series included. Usually there are a lot more than that, but I guess because there's so many long, grand productions next year, TVB doesn't have to promote as much "miniature" series for next year. Overall, I liked what I saw, but just wish there was more! Here's a quick run through of the series in this year's sales presentation along with download links...

  • Golden Spear Steel Horse (Adam Cheng, Kenny Wong, Gigi Lai, etc.) - There's not too much to say about this one. It doesn't seem too fresh and seems like a typical costume war/historical/fighting drama.

    Download Here

  • Storm In a Pool (Moses Chan, Bosco Wong, Raymond Lam, Yoyo Mung, Tavia Yeung, Linda Chung, etc.) - I cannot wait for this series! The "Tong" family has this facade of being so happy, but then, everything starts to deteriorate and the family is ripped apart by the exposure of affairs and immoral behavior. I'm a sucker for family drama, so this is one of my most highly anticipated series for next year. I can't wait to see the Raymond & Linda and Moses & Linda scenes! This is Linda's first time acting as a lawyer, so that should be interesting.

    Download Here

  • Cadets On The Beat (aka The Academy II) (Michael Tao, Sonija Kwok, Ron Ng, Sammul Chan, Joey Yung, etc.) - I loved The Academy... but can the sequel hold its own? I'm skeptical about it. It seems like Ron and Sammul's characters haven't matured at all. They will still be fighting in this sequel. That's disappointing because they seemed to have made peace last time. I don't know what to think about the new female casts or the new relationships. I'm happy with the addition of Sonija to the cast though.

  • Predicting Fate (Steven Ma, Benny Chan, Shirley Yeung, Mimi Lo, etc.) - I'm not too keen on this one. Just look at the name of the leading "lady" and you'll know why. Steven is great and even though my favorite Producer Tsui Yu On is heading this production, I'm not convinced it will be a good series. The plot seems sketchy and aside from Steven, I'm not keen on any of the other cast members. I'll most likely skip this one unless it's really good after all.

  • The Most Beautiful Seventh Day (Kevin Cheng, Niki Chow, Bosco Wong, Selena Li, Natalie Tong, etc.) - Loving this series already! Under the Canopy of Love was one of my favorite series from 2006 and from this sales presentation, the "dramatic version" seems great too. It's great that they're keeping the soft lens to give the series its dreamy effect. The cast is great and I'm excited to see the scenes filmed in Japan.

  • Exquisite Beauty (Ada Choi, Astrid Chan, Anne Heung, Joe Ma, Joyce Koi, Bernice Liu, etc.) - I'm really intrigued by this Dream of Red Chambers adaptation that TVB is interested in doing - but only if Ada is still the lead. This series has a lot of promise, but please replace all of the newcomers. Astrid and Anne are very suitable too. I'm not keen on Joe and I don't like the fact that TVB is typecasting Joyce again and giving her another "male character" to play. I do hope TVB films it. I'm a sucker for aesthetic ancient dramas too.

  • The Brink of Law (Steven Ma, Ron Ng, Bernice Liu, Kate Tsui, Shirley Yeung, etc.) - Another one of my anticipated releases! I've already said what I thought about the series before, so no need to restate it here. Seeing the series in motion was even better! This should be a superb production.

  • Tale of a Mythical Quest (Sunny Chan, Linda Chung, Benny Chan, Halina Tam, Nancy Wu, etc.) - My most highly anticipated series of next year! This is Linda's first true leading role and also her first costume drama. She looks adorable from pictures and the role is going to be challenging and fresh for her. She will have to act out all sorts of personalities and ages, so I'm very excited about that. The sales presentation clip turned me off though. The computer graphics are over-the-top and I hate that. However, I have faith in Producer Li (who did Safe Guards and The Conqueror's Story) and Linda, so this series shouldn't disappoint. TVB hasn't done a mythical series for a long time, so I think it will be fresh to see this one.

  • Cordial Heroes (Bowie Lam, Charmaine Sheh, etc.) - TVB always does this type of sales presentation clip every year. I'm not interested in this at all and will definitely skip it if it's made. Seriously, the storyline doesn't intrigue me and it seems so bland. The cast doesn't help either.

    Download Here

  • The Drive of Life (Raymond Lam, Jessica Hsuan, Charmaine Sheh, Myolie Wu, Joe Ma, etc.) - I'm sorry I didn't take any captures on this, but there really wasn't much to see. It was just a clip from the costume ceremony. I don't know what to think of this series and I'm not too interested in it at the moment... Who knows, my opinion may change.

    Download Here

  • Jewel's Splendor (Ada Choi, Gigi Lai, Maggie Siu, Bowie Lam, Moses Chan, Bosco Wong, Linda Chung, etc.) - Yes! I'm loving this series and its concept. The sales presentation was very lovely and I am captivated by the imagery and symbolism of diamonds and jewels that this series will use as a backdrop. I love the cast! For the record, the three sisters are Ada, Gigi, and Maggie. Linda is not the third sister! I can't wait until more detail is released. What will Linda's character be and who will she be paired with? Don't know, but I'm dying to know. This series should be very good... unless Producer Chik screws it up and tries to make it overtly complicated and dramatic with a dragging 80-episode plot.

So... what do you think of the sales presentation clips for next year?

Looks good, except are they really the proper casts for the series or just actors for the sales presentation because raymond seems to be an awful lot of them.

Thank you Metal for the caps...here's what I have to say...highly against your views haha.
Costume Drama - I donno anything about this series...the screen caps were just snapshots of the individual artists..so there isnt much to say. Gigi's pic almost looks like it's from a modern series. Don't really looking forward to it either - somehow reminds me of the horrific Blade Heart.
Storm in a Pool - Very excited to see Michelle Yim again..and Yoyo as a semi-villain. Hopefully there are a lot of conflicts within the family...like that in Golden Faith and other grand productions from the past...otherwise I wouldnt be too interested.
The Academy II - Perhaps the one I least look forward too (except the 7th day series). The prequel was decent..and that's pretty much all I can say...and sequels usually can't top prequels..so sigh
Predicting Fate - Steven and Benny are like my female versions of Charmaine and Melissa (whom I really like)..so I'm glad they're doing a series together. Shirley has never gotten on my nerves either..so this is an anticipated one.
The Most Beautiful 7th Day - There's a thread about the worst series of 2006..and I said Under the Canopy of Love haha...cuz I hate light-hearted series more than anything else...but since this will be more dramatic...I really hope so...but nevertheless I don't look forward to it much.
Exquisite Beauty - Definitely to-watch...series like War and Beauty, Where The Legend Begins, Charm Beneath, Perish in the Name of Love, Country Spirit, Love is Beautiful (where the women lead the series) have always been my favorites...so this looks like it. I'm loving Ada and Anne...and somewhat Shirley...so hopefully the casts wont change too drastically. But man..Joyce Koi looks horrific in the caps...
Brink of Law - looks good...cant wait to see Shirley in a more evil role...and the whole mystery behind the story seems good as well...
Tale of Mythical Quest - I have always been a fan of fantasy series (Gods of Honour, The Legend of Love, Dark Tales, The Battle Against Evil...etc) so I anticipate this - perhaps the only one with Linda hahah.
Cordial Heroes - the theme is definitely the most fresh out of all the series...but truly what captivates me is Charmaine and Joyce Tang...so without them...I would be half as interested.
The Drive of Life - Love the casts more than any series in this sales presentation...but the storyline doesnt seem as heavy as other past grand productions...I guess since it's celebrating the hand-over of HK...TVB doesnt wanna make it too bloody and full of revenge...disappointing. I would love the storyline for Jewel's Splendor to be filmed with this cast...hahah that would be ideal.
Jewel's Splendor - the storyline seems intriguing..but the cast is boring. But a good plot always compensate for a bad cast...so I'm looking forward to this as well.

The Drive of Life is a must see for me. I am counting the day to watch it, 1.2.3..argh. It will be awhile.

I like Producer Chik's work, but really, reusing the same casts is not neccessary.

I'll be watching The Academy 2 no matter how uninteresting the trailer looks because I really really like Sammul's character in TA1. Hope they didn't make him a villain in part 2 or I'll really hate TVB. Wai Pak Kiu might be anti-social, but he's a good guy. He was the most level-headed of the bunch of cadets and the only one able to see both sides of an issue. But the clip made him look like some stubborn antagonistic person. And I can never see him as someone corrupt, especially after his father's dead.

kidd - Nope, I haven't written my thoughts on The Academy yet. I really want to, but haven't had the time yet. :\ Maybe I'll do a 2005-2006 review and talk about it then... It's been awhile since I watched it, so I can't do a spotlight since I can't remember much besides my overall impression of it. :P However, I do agree with your comments that Wai Pak Kiu is a great guy. I hope they don't make him a villian either.

JJ - Gosh... you love going against me. *Shakes head*

I'm actually looking forward to all the modern series. For the ancient series, except for Exquisite Beauty, everything else looks boring to me.
"Mythical Quest" - to much graphic and fairytale-ish, the clothes and hair and character styles look "ugly", reminding me of "Monkey King" which I didn't like much.
Adam Cheng's series - martial arts does not fit my taste.
Predicting Fate doesn't look interesting either.

    For the modern series:
    1. Most Beautiful Seventh Day - this potentially will become the most romantic TVB series ever. Well TVB series has always been "so realistic" that sometimes it doesn't feel romatic enough, but this series might be able to prove that TVB can do romantic stuff too :). Well but I still hope TVB still keeps its realistiness though since romantic series can get "unreasonable" sometimes.
    2. The Drive of Life - my most anticipated series of 2007. The cast is my favorite. Though they did not reveal the plot but The theme sounds interesting and first time TVB collaborates with CCTV in a modern series.
    3. Jewel's Splendor - I have faith in Chik Kee Yee since he is a very good producer and most of his dramas in the past are very good. The cast is also quite strong but they still did not reveal the plot that much which is dissapointing.
    4. Storm in a Pool and Brink of Law- I have high hope that these 2 series will be good as well.
5 Academy II - im still debating whether to watch it or not but I'm leaning toward the "I will watch it" direction lolz
    6. the Immigration series - uh im not so interested in this series at all.
