comic tease - 39th anniversary edition

Comic Tease might possibly be a new on-going feature at TVB Musings if the response to this special 39th Anniversary edition is good. Basically this is the "pilot." If it flies, a new series will have been born. If not, then it will just be a stand-alone feature. It's up to you guys. I hope you guys like it. I think it's cute and humorous. I had been meaning to do this post for a while, but didn't get a chance to until now, so pardon it being a bit "outdated." Anyways, enjoy and let me know what you think.

I thought it was so sweet of Tavia Yeung to raise her hand in a "presenting" manner towards Linda Chung while the camera was on them as they waited to hear Michael Mui announce the Most Improved Actress winner. It was so cute to see Tavia hug Linda. I didn't know they were such good friends. I guess Heart of Greed brought them together. I wonder if TVB intentionally sat Linda, Tavia, Leila Tong, and Selena Li next to each other in the same row. Last year, Bernice Liu and Niki Chow sat together and Bernice gave Niki a hug when she won too. Anyways, I really liked how Tavia acted.

I loved this shot of Kingdom Yuen smiling so widely and proudly. You can sense how happy and proud she is for Linda. She watched Linda mature, so in a sense she is like her "aunt." The Virtues of Harmony II family were all very protective of Linda because she was just 19 when she stepped onto the set to film. Linda was really grateful to have them all support and help her so much. It makes me all warm and happy knowing that the bonds extended off-screen - that is partially why I love Virtues so much - the feeling I get from it is very sincere and endearing.

The first awkward moment of the night! I thought it was so funny how Linda looked all confused and then realized he wanted to give her a congratulatory hug first. I hate how TVB didn't make a Most Improved clip show for Linda. I was so angry because I really looked forward to seeing it. If they could make one for Niki when she won last year with only two series, why couldn't they do one for Linda who has four series under her belt? It's so unfair. I wanted to see Linda's progress from a Miss Chinese International winner to her debut in Virtues and then her improvements in her succeeding series. It was really disappointing. However, she looked very angelic and sincere during her speech, so I'm not complaining.

Who is this lady who presented with Yuen Wah? She is the worst presenter ever. Presenters are supposed to step back from the stand and smile as the winner gives his/her speech... but this lady... She stood there at the stand while both Kenny Wong and Shirley Yeung were giving their speeches. What was even worse was that her face looked so sour and bored - so rude!

Charmaine Sheh's face was so black during the Most Favorite Female Character award that it was unbelievable. It was so obvious she wasn't expecting it and didn't want the award because she thought she would lose out on the Best Actress award since she won this award. I wish Charmaine had carried herself better. I mean, come on, it is still an award.

Liza Wang is hilarious. I loved how she teased all of the top 5 Best Actor nominees. It was great. Bowie Lam looked so pissed at her comment that his speech was not too "clear" in The Dance of Passion and yet he was criticizing Moses Chan for not speaking clearly enough. He just kept this tight, forced smile and nodded his head as if he was joking along with her and being a "good sport." It was just so funny. Bowie deserved it - he was being too cocky. "Ah jeh" surely put him in his place; she doesn't just have a reputation.

I couldn't believe that Shirley perked up her smile when she noticed that the camera was on her while they were showing the top 5 Best Actress nominees as Roger Kwok was about to announce the winner. It was so cheesy that I laughed. Charmaine obviously thought she lost the award because she had won Most Favorite Female Character already, but alas, she got a huge surprise.

Linda was shaking hands and chatting with someone (perhaps Leila or Selena?) and then she wiped her eyes and was creating a "commotion." Kiki Sheung was looking at her to see what the fuss was about. Natalie Tong, too, looked at Linda. Maybe it's the angle... but Natalie's glance at Linda didn't look too friendly.

I thought it was so funny how Tavia started feeling her face and was probably commenting to Linda how oily her face was. She then takes out some tissues to dab away at the oil and shares a piece with her good friend, Linda. It was cute seeing them both dab at their faces. Niki Chow was then joking with Linda and Tavia too. Everyone else looked so bored, including Sharon Chan. It was a long night, so it's understandable that they all got restless. Awards shows are pretty boring, especially if you're a part of it and walk home empty-handed.

If this series takes off, the actual features will be different from this pilot. There won't be so much writing and comments.

I've always been fond of "caption it" features. :) My favorite is the very first tease. And yes, Linda and Tav are very close, ever since the costume fitting of Heart of Greed it seems.

You should have a male version too. :P

I like this feature; it's cute.

It's so easy to make fun of Charmaine's face expressions during the awards night LOL. Shame, because she sort of left a bad impression to me after that.

the woman that presented with Yuen Wah, is his "see mui". His kung fu sister, they're pretty famous...If you've seen 'Kung Fu Hussle'...You'd probably remember her...

Nice feature. Its awesome...

I like it...although I don't think it's very fresh as many blogs do this kind of tease. Nevertheless it's still funny.
The most warming parts to me were when Joe and Bobby gave Charm a hug, when Kevin shook hands with everybody on the first row, and when Kenny gave hugs/shook hands with Charm and Ada and even mention them in his speech - aww haha.
The funniest was when Bobby calls out "me" when Charm was thinking of someone to thank lol...great stuff!

I'm so glad you guys like this feature. :) Thanks for all the comments. It's been decided that it will be added to the TVB Musings family then. ;) Haha now I have to rework this feature. This special edition was really more of an anniversary show review & observations.

TkN - Male version? Uh... I don't have any ideas for that and I don't see how this was a 'female version.' It seemed pretty gender neutral to me. All right... I admit it. I skimmed through the entire show besides parts with Linda. :P

robyne - Thanks for the info. I've never seen that movie so I had no idea who she was.
