"Joey, what led to the recovery of your memories?" Nim Chi (Nancy Sit) questions.
"The same car accident," Joey (Bernice Liu) responds. She frowns, "You're not thinking of reenacting whatever caused him to lose his memories to regain them... are you?"
"Well, that seems to always works in series," Nim Chi says.
Ah Sing (Hawick Lau) laughs, "Series are ridiculous. So what if we could reenact whatever led to Ah Nin's (Frankie Lam) accident? Who can guarantee that his memories will come back? Worse, he might die or suffer from some injury, then it won't matter if his memories return or not."
"Well, that's right," Nim Chi blushes.
"Maybe," Fiona (Sherming Yiu) suggests, "if we show him proof that we're telling the truth and tell him stories about his past to try to regain his memories... perhaps, perhaps they'll come back then. At least he'll be more willing to listen to us."
"Too bad all of our photos are back in Hong Kong."
"And we can't possibly call the others to go to Shanghai. 'Ka Yan' is too busy these days."
"No," Nim Chi smiles, "but we can always get Ah Yuet (Michael Tse) or someone to scan and e-mail us our family pictures."
"What if Chris thinks we manipulated such pictures through photoshop?"
"Right, I'll call Sa Sa (Kingdom Yuen) and get her to speed-mail us what we need."
"Videos and things that Ah Nin loves will also be helpful," Fiona smiles.
Joey wants to be optimistic, but she couldn't suppress her pessimistic fears. Somehow, she believed that their actions would prove to no avail. "If only," she thought, "reality could be as simple as in series. If that was the case, we could just hit Chris on the head and he'll be back to normal."
"While we wait for the package to come," Ah Sing says, "maybe we should spy on Ah Nin and see where he lives."
"Why?"
"It's easier to talk in a private home rather than a public office. Don't you remember what happened the other day when we confronted him in his office?"
"Well that was because we didn't know that he didn't know who we were."
"Ma Chi, do you want to cause another scene?"
["F&B" company]
Nim Chi and the others wear their sunglasses, hats, and carry newspapers as they wait endless hours for Ah Nin.
"Don't you think we look too suspicious?" Ah Sing asks.
"Well, this was how I did it back in my police cadet days!" Nim Chi declares.
"That was over thirty years ago..."
"Age doesn't matter as long as it's useful!"
Nim Chi, Ah Sing, Joey, and Fiona hide in the sides of "F&B" company as they watch Ah Nin and Rose (Kenix Kwok) leave the company.
"Who's that woman?" Nim Chi raises her eyebrow.
Joey's heart panged at the sight.
"Ma Chi, they're boarding a car!"
Just when they start to chase after it, the car dashes off. Soon, they lose sight of it.
"Darn, I forgot to calculate the fact that they might leave by a car," Nim Chi grimly says.
Joey, Ah Sing, and Fiona look at each other, shaking their heads and smiling. "Ma Chi," Ah Sing puts his arms around her shoulders, "it's ok. Even if we could have followed him home, we have no proof to get him to believe us."
"So, today was a wasted trip..." Fiona laughs.
"Maybe my ideas are outdated... after all," Nim Chi thinks.
