"Auntie Chi (Nancy Sit), how was today's meeting with Chris?" Rose (Kenix Kwok) asks as she reclines on the couch. "What? It went horribly? Not only did he not remember anything but even accused you guys of lying? My, my... I'm so sorry. Don't worry; I will arrange more meetings. Talk to you later." She grins and decides to walk to Ah Nin's (Frankie Lam) room.
[Ah Nin's Room]
"Chris!" she hops on his back.
"Suen Seung Sam, what are you doing in a man's room at this hour?" Ah Nin playfully says in a stern voice.
"My daddy's not home tonight..."
"I'll have to tell Mr. Suen on you!"
"Fine, you will just have to wait until after our wedding."
"So, what are you here for?"
"To see my handsome fiancé of course!"
"Is that all?"
"Actually, I just wanted to ask how things were today... with your family."
Ah Nin scoffs, "My family? These people are such liars, and bad ones at that! They must watch that nonsensical Hong Kong program 'Gai Dai Foon Siu.'"
"Really, what did they say?"
"My 'mother' says that she's my step-mother because her husband, my father, was stolen by her good sister, who my is birth mother. My 'brother' is her own son who she thought died and only reunited later. And that girl, she claims to be my girlfriend. She says she lost her memories when we were together and something about how we were deeply in love. She also claimed that I came to Shanghai because I was depressed."
"Really..." Rose bites her lower lip. "So, she must be 'Joey'..." she thinks to herself.
"Why are you so persistent in making me seeing them?"
"Because I don't want you to have any regrets. They're clearly your family and I don't want you to wake up one morning blaming me for not letting you see them."
"I would never blame you. The past is history. All I care now is the present and future, and that's you."
"Chris, you know that I'm a person of my word. I promised them, and you must see them again."
"Give me something in return first."
Rose giggles and turns off the lights.
[Rose's Room]
Rose runs her finger down a picture frame containing a photograph of her and Ah Nin. "You wouldn't accept me before. But now you're mine and always will be. I won't let you out of my grasp again. Love can't be 'forced,' but it can be manipulated." She goes to bed, holding the picture frame close to her chest. "I won't... definitely won't let you go again. You're the only thing that I've gotten for myself on my own. You're the only person that loves me."
