"Mr. Wong, we need to hire another designer!" Ah Lam (Linda Chung) reports, "we cannot continue sharing the same designer."
"Is Ella (Sharon Chan) not doing a good job?" Wong Sheung (Lau Dan) inquires.
"She is, but 'Ka Yan' has been so busy these days. We need our own designers."
There is a knock on the office. Ying Gei (Yvonne Lam) pops her head in and informs, "Mr. Wong, there's someone here to see you."
"Send them in."
"We'll discuss this issue later," Wong Sheung excuses Ah Lam and Man Gwai Fei (Stephanie Che).
As Ah Lam walks out, her eyes open wide when she sees Ah Sing (Hawick Lau) approaching the office.
Ah Sing notices Ah Lam and greets her, "Michelle."
"Ah Sing," Ah Lam quickly walks away.
"She's still so cold as before," he comments. "Good morning, Mr. Wong."
"Lau Ka Sing!" Wong Sheung exclaims.
"How are you?"
"What brings you back to 'Ka Yan'?"
"I would like my position as the company's fashion designer back."
"Do you?" Wong Sheung smiles, "Kitty, call Michelle back in here!"
Ah Lam walks back into Wong Sheung's office. She smiles weakly when she sees that Ah Sing is still there. "Mr. Wong, you needed me?"
"You said earlier that you and Athena need your own designers, right?"
She nods.
"Well, you're in luck. I've just hired Ah Sing. He will work for you." Ah Sing and Ah Lam's eyes bulge and they stare at one another. "Is there a problem?"
Ah Lam says, "Oh no. Ah Sing, welcome back to 'Ka Yan.' I hope you will do a good job."
"Michelle, you don't need to worry about that. And I don't need to worry either because you will do anything for business."
Ah Lam turns her head away.
"Good, good," Wong Sheung smiles, "the problem is solved."
[Ah Lam's Office]
"Ah Sing, even though Mr. Wong has rehired you, in my opinion, you're still under a trial period. Who knows if you will supply the company with the work that you gave years ago. I expect you to be efficient otherwise I will tell Mr. Wong and you will be fired," Ah Lam warns.
"You still haven't changed, Michelle."
"It's none of your business whether or not I've changed."
Ah Sing notices a diamond ring on Ah Lam's finger. "Indulging for yourself?" he asks pointing to her ring.
"Stop looking at me like that! I'll tell my husband about this."
He's surprised, "You're married? I'm impressed. I cannot believe someone could deal with icy and money-hungry Hung Bak Lam. I pity the poor fellow." He excuses himself and walks out of her office.
Ah Lam is flustered. Time still hadn't diminished the impact of Ah Sing's words on her.
[Kam Family Apartment]
"Ma Chi, what are you doing?" Ah Yat (Joyce Chen) asks.
"I'm preparing a package to send to someone."
"Who?"
"Ka Ting."
"What family?" Gam (Louis Yuen) asks, "Your entire family is already here!"
Nim Chi smiles at Ah Nin and the others, "Not 'ga ting,' but Ka Ting... Ah Ting."
"Who's that? I don't recall the name," Ah Nin (Frankie Lam) asks.
"Neither do I and my memories are intact!" Ah Yuet (Michael Tse) says.
"That's right, Ma Chi, I don't think you ever told us about this person."
"I have! I guess you guys were just too caught up in your own personal lives that you didn't listen to me! Anyways, Ah Ting (Leila Tong) is my goddaughter. She's in the mainland. She's the daughter of my good friend. She is a sweet girl, very pretty. It's too bad all of my sons have someone now otherwise I would surely play matchmaker!"
"Auntie Chi, you're amazing. Not only do you have an illegitimate birth son, three stepchildren, a godson, and now you tell us you have a goddaughter. What's next? A foreign son?" Gam jokes.
"Ah Sing is not an illegitimate son!"
"So why are you sending her a package?" Ah Yat asks.
"I always send her a package each month. She's a pitiful girl and I promised my friend that I would take care of her."
"I can't believe it. Miss Hong Kong this year is so ugly!" Ah Hong says.
"What's her name?" Gam asks.
"Tin Ka Yan."
"Well that explains it! The beauty pageant committees love people with the name 'Ka Yan.'"
Ah Nin thinks to himself, "Ka Ting... Ka Yan... Ka Yan..." An image of a company with the name "Ka Yan" comes into this head. "Isn't there a company named 'Ka Yan' as well?" he suddenly blurts out the question.
"Why?"
"I remember a company... I think it was 'Ka Yan' company."
Nim Chi beams, "Ah Nin! You're remembering more and more each day."
"So there's an actual 'Ka Yan' company?"
Ah Yuet nods, "You used to be our Merchandising Manager, big brother."
"Speaking of 'Ka Yan,' I was rehired for my job," Ah Sing announces the good news.
"That's great!"
"Big brother, I'm amazed. You've only been back a few days and you remember so much more now. You remembered Ma Chi for her horrible cooking, uncle Gam for his stench, second brother for his cowardice, second sister-in-law for her bitchiness, auntie for her piercing yellow clothes, big big brother over the fight with the 'big brother' seat..." Ah Yat recounts.
"And you for your childish wants," Ah Nin finishes and laughs.
