Ah Yuet (Michael Tse) and Ah Lo (Bondy Chiu) embrace each other in their dark bedroom with only a dim lamp on. Ah Lo continued to cry.
Ah Yuet is concerned, "Ah Lo, what's wrong?"
"Kam Yuet, I hate you!" Ah Lo cries.
"What's wrong? If you don't tell me, I'll never know!" Ah Yuet says.
"You're my husband and you don't know?"
Ah Yuet shakes his head, "I'm really clueless! I don't think I've wronged you."
"It's your fault for getting me pregnant again!" Ah Lo yells.
Ah Yuet has disbelief; "It's been months already. Why are you bringing up old issues? It's your final month! You'll give birth soon and things will return to normal."
Ah Lo shakes her head, "They won't be normal. Foon Foon and Hei Hei are already so costly. How can we support two more kids?"
Ah Yuet holds Ah Lo's face and gazes deeply into her eyes, "No matter how costly they may be, they're blessings. Not everyone can have kids. Look at uncle and sister OK. They've tried for so long and she's still not pregnant! We're very lucky to have four kids."
"We'll have to work harder and I'm afraid we won't have enough time to spend with them. Foon Foon and Hei Hei are growing up so fast," Ah Lo sighs.
"They give our life meaning, don't you think?" Ah Yuet asks.
"What if we can't provide for all of them? What if..." Ah Lo is flustered.
Ah Yuet kisses Ah Lo. "Trust me, we will make it through. Besides, we have Ma Chi and the others."
"We can't always depend on them," Ah Lo says, "We're our own family, after all."
"That's true, but what is a family for? We help each other. They help us and we help them."
Ah Lo agrees, "You're right."
"Is this what it's all about? You feel insecure about the future?"
Ah Lo shakes her head, "I'm terrified of childbirth. Last time I gave birth to Foon Foon and Hei Hei, it hurt so badly! I don't want to take the pain again."
Ah Yuet suggests, "You can have a C-section. Then you won't have to deal with the pain."
"It'll leave a scar! You'll like me less, then," Ah Lo protests.
Ah Yuet wipes Ah Lo's tears with his finger, "No, I won't."
Ah Lo hugs Ah Yuet again, "Thank you."
"Are you okay now?" Ah Yuet questions.
Ah Lo nods, "I'm sorry. I must have been hard to deal with the past few days... but I was really scared and unsure about everything."
Ah Yuet laughs, "You weren't any more unbearable than usual."
Ah Lo grabs his ear and playfully threatens, "Dare to say that again?"
"Kidding!" Ah Yuet smiles.
[Rooftop]
Ah Yuet waited until Ah Lo was fast asleep again to call another meeting at the apartment's rooftop.
Gam (Louis Yuen) demands, "What is it now? You're ruining my 'people-making' plan with Einstein!"
"It's about Ah Lo," Ah Yuet announces.
Ah Yat (Joyce Chen) cries out, "Her again?"
Nim Chi yawns, clearly tired, "What happened, Ah Yuet?"
"I found out why she's been acting the way she is," Ah Yuet confesses.
"Oh? What is it?" Nim Chi asks.
"She's terrified and afraid that..." Ah Yuet starts.
"Her beauty and figure will be lost?" Ah Yat rolls her eyes.
Ah Yuet shakes his head, "She's scared of childbirth and for our future. She doesn't know if we'll be able to support four kids and whether or not we can raise them properly and give them enough love."
Nim Chi is surprised, "Ah Lo is worrying too much! She has all of us."
"That's what I told her," Ah Yuet says, "But Ah Lo wants us to be more independent because we are our own family now and aren't young anymore."
Ah Nin (Frankie Lam) remarks, "That's true. We can't always depend on family. I see why Ah Lo is scared."
"But that's no excuse for the way she treated us tonight and the past few days!" Ah Yat objects.
"Ah Lo cried for nearly half-an-hour just now. She was upset and didn't know any other way to release it," Ah Yuet says.
"Poor Ah Lo!" Nim Chi declares, "We all misunderstood her."
Ah Yuet claps his hand together and begs, "I know she was really rude tonight, but please try to be kind to her. She knows that she was wrong now and apologized for the way she's been behaving. After all, there's no feud in a family, right?"
Gam yawns loudly, "All right already! Let's get back to bed."
Ah Yuet grins widely, "Thank you!"
[Dining Table]
The next morning, Ah Lo walked out into the dining room with greetings from everyone. Gam hands Ah Lo the entertainment section from that day's newspaper and says, "I know you like to keep up with what's going on in the world, so I saved this section for you!"
Ah Lo is shocked, "Oh... thank you. However, I want to read the news! I want my babies to be informed about the world... not worrying over nonsense!"
Ah Yat gets up and wants to take the section away from Ah Lo, "If you're not going to read it, then give it to me." Nim Chi shakes her head scornfully. Ah Yat smiles and changes her tone, "Second sister-in-law."
"Yes?"
"Are you finished with that section of the newspaper yet? If you are, may I please have it to peruse?"
Ah Lo hands Ah Yat the paper, "Have fun."
Ah Yat flashes a fake smile, "Thank you."
Nim Chi grins approvingly.
Ah Hong (Johnny Tang) returns from the apartment's balcony and comments, "It's such a beautiful day today!"
"Of course," Ah Yat says, "It's Sunday! We're all free, so it's great!"
Nim Chi nods, "Since no one has any plans, why don't we go somewhere as a family?"
Ah Nin supports her, "We should. We haven't gone out as a family in a long time."
"If you hadn't gone to Shanghai, we would have spent much more time together, big brother!" Ah Yat says.
Rose (Kenix Kwok) replies, "If he hadn't gone, you wouldn't have this big sister-in-law today."
"You gain some, you lose some. It's all part of life. If Chris had not gone to Shanghai, the big sister-in-law sitting in front of us might be someone else," Ah Hong comments.
Ah Yuet turns towards Ah Lo, "Where do you want to go?"
Ah Lo blinks, "Me?"
Ah Yuet nods, "Of course. What did Ma Chi say? There's no one bigger than a pregnant woman."
Ah Lo is confused, "Ma Chi only made that rule because she thought I was suffering from depression. Now that it's all cleared, then there's no problem."
Nim Chi looks up from her bowl of congee, "It's okay! You can still decide for us because you've gone through so much pain."
Ah Yat thinks to herself, "So much pain? Ha! She hasn't lifted a finger since she became pregnant."
Ah Lo beams, "In that case, I want to go to Japan!"
Rose laughs, "Japan? In one day? We have work on Monday!"
"Just kidding. I'll let mother-in-law decide. It's only fitting!" Ah Lo says.
Nim Chi thinks, "How about we go to the temple to pray for Ah Lo's babies? Then we'll go shopping and eat."
Ah Lo protests, "The temple is so far away! What if I give birth along the way there? There's no hospital nearby!"
Ah Yuet nods, "That's true."
"Plus, second sister-in-law can't get any goods if she gives birth at a temple. What is she going to do? Steal from the monks?" Ah Yat teases.
"Ah Yat!" Nim Chi chides.
Ah Lo laughs, "Mother-in-law, it's okay! If we don't argue, then it will feel weird! You don't have to treat me so nicely. I feel uncomfortable hearing everyone try to speak softly and with respect all the time!"
Gam asks, "So what we did last night was useless?"
"No! I wouldn't mind if you guys did it again today," Ah Lo winks.
"So where are we going to go today?" Ah Nin asks.
"Shopping!" Ah Lo exclaims.
"It's almost Christmas. I guess we can get in some early shopping. It's decided. The Kams are going shopping!" Nim Chi declares.
[Shopping Centre]
Ah Lo's attention is caught when they pass a jewelry store.
"Ah Lo?" Nim Chi asks. "Did you want to buy something?"
"Since I'm having twins again, don't you think we should buy bracelets to distinguish the twins?" Ah Lo says.
Ah Yat comments, "Second sister-in-law is afraid her twins will choose cheap bracelets like Foon Foon and Hei Hei again, so she's choosing for them! This way, even if her twins don't like the bracelets, she can still keep them and sell them later. Aiya, you're so clever!"
"Mother-in-law loves me for giving her grandkids, unlike some people!" Ah Lo retaliates.
"Let's go in," Nim Chi urges.
[Jewelry Store]
"Hello, I'm Jasmine. What can I do for you all?" the salesclerk (Mandy Cho) greets.
"We're looking for baby bracelets," Nim Chi answers with a grin.
Jasmine smiles, "Congratulations. Let me take out our collection of baby bracelets."
"Ah Hong!" Ah Yat whines, "I want to buy something too!"
"Ah Yat, you have more than enough jewelry! They're flooding our room," Ah Hong says.
"Same with you! You and your designs!"
"At least my designs bring in money for us. Your jewelry is just taking up space."
"If I wanted to, I could sell them for money!"
"But they wouldn't be at the price you got them for! As for my designs, I get the maximum profit for them from TVB!"
Ah Yat laughs, "Oh, really? You're under a fixed salary! All your designs bring in the same money!"
Ah Hong thinks for a second, "Well at least they stay at a constant price!"
"Ko Yi Hong, you don't appreciate me anymore! Let's get a divorce!" Ah Yat threatens.
"Easy come, easy go," Ah Hong replies.
"Aiya!" Nim Chi sighs, "Why fight over a petty little thing? Ah Yat, if you really want something, then Ma Chi will buy it for you."
Ah Yat hugs Nim Chi, "Mothers are always better than husbands!"
Ah Hong walks out of the store.
"That Ah Hong!" Ah Yat frowns angrily.
"Even though you're married, you're still so childish!" Ah Lo sighs.
"Ah Yat, go over there and see if you like anything," Nim Chi says.
Ah Nin and Rose excuse themselves, "Ma Chi, we're going to go to another store now and meet you guys up later."
Ah Yuet whispers to Ah Lo, "Don't buy anything too expensive!"
Jasmine returns with ten sets of bracelets, "Hope there'll be one that catches your eye."
Ah Lo asks, "Which one is the most expensive?"
Jasmine points to a pair of gold bracelets engraved with a dragon and phoenix. There were two golden bells with tiny diamonds on top of the bells. She says, "This one, ma'am. Do you like it?"
"Yes, it's quite pretty! I'll take it."
Ah Yuet's eyes nearly fall out, "Honey! Are you crazy? You didn't even ask the price for it!"
"Frugality is a good trait, but my babies must have the best," Ah Lo explains.
Nim Chi adds, "Well, Foon Foon and Hei Hei's bracelets were quite cheap... so I guess this is fair."
Ah Yuet hugs Nim Chi, "Thanks for paying for it, Ma Chi!"
Ah Hong returns to the jewelry store and stands beside Ah Yat.
"Finally returned?" Ah Yat asks as she admires the rings in the glass cases.
Ah Hong places a mirror in front of Ah Yat.
"What the hell are you doing? You don't buy me a gift and now you put a mirror in front of my face?"
Ah Hong explains, "You are the biggest jewel that anyone could ever buy."
Ah Yat is touched, "You're so sweet, Ah Hong! I knew there must have been a reason why I married you."
Nim Chi shakes her head, "Ah Hong and Ah Yat sure are something!"
Ah Lo beams at the bracelets she just bought and rubs her stomach. Suddenly, she starts to feel pain. She grimaces, "Ah Yuet! Mother-in-law! The babies..."
"What is it?"
"I feel that they're moving and spinning around! I think I'm about to give birth!" Ah Lo screams in pain, "It hurts!"
