Gwai Fei (Stephanie Che) yawns as she speeds her way to "Ka Yan" company. She rolls her eyes listening to the daily shrilling of Gwai Yan (Celine Ma). It seemed that she would never shut up and always had something to say. That day, the topic was Ah Nin. Gwai Yan went on and on about how much she loved him and how attractive he was.
"God! I'm so excited!" Gwai Yan sighs.
"Yeah, yeah." Gwai Fei makes a face. She notices a slip of paper on the floor of her car. It's a red light, so she decides to pick it up and see what it is. She unfolds the paper and reads "Kam Yuet." "What is this paper doing in my car?"
Gwai Yan snatches the paper from Gwai Fei. "Oh! This is the 'red string of destiny' that connected me and Ah Nin."
"Yan Yan, the paper says 'Kam Yuet.'"
Gwai Yan's eyes bulge and she shrieks, "What?" She hastily checks the paper and her heart drops when the second word that she failed to read was "yuet" and not "nin." "Oh my god!" she cries.
"Didn't you read the paper carefully?"
"No! I was too excited after I saw the word 'kam' that I assumed it was Ah Nin!"
"There are two Mr. Kams in 'Ka Yan.'"
"Fei Fei, what am I going to do?" Gwai Yan frowns and tugs on Gwai Fei's arms.
"Get off of me! Can't you see I'm driving?" The car swerves because of Gwai Yan's tugging.
"Fei Fei, don't blame me for your horrible driving." Gwai Yan continues to wail. "God! You're so cruel. You deceived me and made me think I got Ah Nin when I got the wimpy and weak husband of that bitch instead."
Gwai Fei glances at her rear-view mirror and notices a police car trailing directly behind. She pulls over.
"Miss, may I see your driver's license and ID please?" the policeman (Raymond Lam) asks.
Gwai Fei flashes her eyes and says sweetly, "Sir, I'm almost late for my job. Please, just let me go this once." She wants to open the door to reveal her long legs, but the policeman prevents her from opening it and orders her to remain inside. He accuses Gwai Fei of drunk driving because he noticed that she wasn't driving in a straight path.
"Sir, it's because my cousin here was pulling on my shirt! It's not my fault. I swear I'm not intoxicated. I'm a good girl!"
"Sure. Get out of the car. I need to perform some tests on you."
Gwai Fei spent the next thirty minutes trying to prove to the policeman that she wasn't drunk. Although she had proven that she wasn't intoxicated, the policeman still gave her a ticket because he had noticed she was also speeding earlier. It was 9:20 AM by the time Gwai Fei was finished.
"Fei Fei! We're late! Now I can't fix my problem."
"You! Get out and sit in the back. Do not touch me ever again!" Gwai Fei orders.
["Ka Yan" Company]
"The two Miss Mans are late today," Ying Gei (Yvonne Lam) reports.
"Kitty, prepare a warning letter for them," Wong Sheung (Lau Dan) instructs.
"Okay."
"Should we pass out the presents now or wait for them?" Joey (Bernice Liu) asks.
"They're late. We shouldn't have to wait for them," Ah Nin (Frankie Lam) replies.
"Yes! Let's get the presents and start opening them!" Lily (Rain Lau) runs over to the Christmas tree and drags the red bag across to the main interior.
Gam (Louis Yuen) laughs, "When it comes to receiving free things, Lily is the first in line."
"You try having four daughters and see how you'll become!" Lily rebuts.
"Mr. Wong, because you're the boss, you should have the honor of distributing the gifts," Rose (Kenix Kwok) urges.
Wong Sheung smiles, "Okay."
Everyone in "Ka Yan" crowds together in a circle and watches Wong Sheung open the bag. They all mumble their anxiousness.
"First gift is for Lily."
Lily was about to open her present until Wong Sheung stops her, "We will wait until everyone has a present and then open it all at once."
Lily sighs, "All right."
Wong Sheung continues passing out the presents, each gift ranging in size and wrapping paper. He is puzzled when he reaches in and sees another gift for Ah Nin. "Chris, didn't you already get a present?"
Ah Nin nods, "Yes."
"This is another present for you."
"Another one? That's strange!"
"Well, it says your name, so take it, I guess."
Wong Sheung lifts up the empty bag, "I guess we're done!"
"Mr. Wong! What about me?" Ah Yuet (Michael Tse) demands and shows him his empty hands.
"There's nothing left in the bag."
Gwai Fei and Gwai Yan run into "Ka Yan" at this point.
"So sorry we're late!" they try to apologize.
Sugar (Yau Ching) hands them their gifts and Ying Gei hands them warning letters.
"Oh! Double gifts!" Gwai Yan gushes.
"What are we going to do about Marco?" Rose asks.
"Chris got two presents... maybe someone made a mistake."
"But which present is really for Chris and which was accidentally meant for Marco instead?"
Ah Lo (Bondy Chiu) grabs the bigger box from Ah Nin, "Big brother, you're already so rich. Don't be petty and let Ah Yuet have the bigger gift."
Gwai Yan nearly dies. It was the gift that she had gotten for Ah Nin.
"On the count of three, everyone can open their present! One... two... three!"
Ah Lo gazes at her big present and wonders what it could be. She strips off the wrapping paper to find a box of diapers. "What kind of unfunny joke is this?" Ah Lo shouts. She is furious.
"What's wrong with the present? It's free diapers for our babies! You know diapers are expensive these days."
"But it's supposed to be a gift for me! Not for my babies."
Rose cracks a smirk from the side.
Wong Sheung opens his gift and discovers a gold tie with a crown that says "Our Emperor."
"Who was cheap to our boss?" Lily questions.
"Lily, it's okay! I think this tie is quite comical. Oh, look, there's a price tag on the back. Wow, it's quite expensive."
"How tacky!" Ah Lo comments, "To leave the price tag on a gift!"
Gwai Fei exhales. The fake prize tag she had stuck onto the back of the tie had worked.
Rose shakes her small box and wonders what was inside.
"Rose, someone in this company must hate you for giving you that small gift!" Ah Lo teases.
"Yeah? Well someone must hate you as well for not buying you a present."
"Hey! These diapers cost a lot."
"Uh huh." Rose laughs inside. She opens the small box and sees a delicate phone accessory along with a small card. "Hoping the sweet melody of the chain will warble wherever you go and hopefully your reflection on the small mirror will reveal genuine truth." Rose tries to figure out who bought her the present.
Joey gives a quick glance at Rose to see if her gift would have any impact, but Rose's face was expressionless. Joey's gift was wrapped in pink wrapping paper. A pink summer dress lay inside the box. She holds the dress up into the air. It was light and sexy.
"Joey, that dress is beautiful," GiGi (Josephine Shum) admires.
Joey hugs the dress, "I love it. Thanks to whoever bought it for me." She asks herself, "Who bought me this present? This dress fits me perfectly and it's of my taste as well... who could it be?"
"Too bad you have to wait until summer or spring to wear it," Sugar says.
Ah Nin smiles after hearing Joey's comment.
"Ah Yuet, hurry up and open your gift!" Ah Lo presses.
"What if this gift was meant for big brother? I feel bad!"
"Well, we can't ask who bought which present otherwise the 'Secret Santa' would be ruined."
Ah Nin walks over to Ah Yuet's desk and places his still wrapped present on the desk. He says, "We'll open the gifts together. Since I'm your big brother, I'll let you choose whichever gift you like more."
"Thanks, big brother!"
Gwai Yan's heart pounds.
A big clock with the wording "I Love You, Baby Baby" was in the big box. Ah Yuet nearly faints.
"Kam Yuet! Are you cheating on me?" Ah Lo asks.
"Honey! This present was in the name of big brother. It's clear that it doesn't belong to me," Ah Yuet pushes the clock towards Ah Nin.
"It can't be for me!"
Ah Lo snaps her finger, "I get it! This clock is referring to Fu jai and Gwai mui! 'Baby, baby' means that there's two babies!"
"Oh! That's true," Ah Yuet agrees.
Ah Nin pushes the clock back towards Ah Yuet, "It's meant to be yours."
"This is so unfair. Ah Yuet and I didn't get any presents. Our presents were all bought in the thought of our babies!" Ah Lo whines.
"When you're married, you're referred to as your husband's wife. When you have kids, you become known as your children's mother," Lily sighs.
"Big brother, what gift did you get?" Ah Yuet inquires.
"A set of pens," Ah Nin replies. "I guess this person wants to tell me to get more contracts for 'Ka Yan.'"
"I can't believe it!" Gam (Louis Yuen) exclaims. "Who gave me a toilet seat?"
"You're always in the bathroom. It'll be useful," Ah Lo says. She chuckles.
"It was you!" Gam accuses.
"You have no proof. Don't wrongfully blame me!"
"Gam Gam, it's a nice toilet seat. You should be happy. It's soft!" Ying Gei comforts him.
"Einstein, what did you get?"
"Some vitamins. I guess whoever got me this wished that I could be in the best of health when I get pregnant!"
Lily holds up a stuffed lion in disbelief, "What kind of present is this?"
"It's a male lion! You always wanted a boy... now you got what you wanted," GiGi teases.
Sugar holds up a basket of candy, "Whoever gave me this is envious! They want to fatten me up so I would lose my beautiful figure."
"Michelle, your present is lovely! The pandas are so cute," GiGi gazes at the basket of panda beanie babies sitting on top of fake grass with tiny star crystals along with some miniature bamboo shoots.
"Is it?" Ah Lam (Linda Chung) says. She looks at Ah Sing (Hawick Lau), who is looking at his present. Ah Lam had gotten him a sketching book along with professional pencils. Ah Sing looks at Ah Lam. In that moment, their eyes connect and the two are brought back to the past.
Gwai Fei is unimpressed at the Christmas-edition teddy bear that she received. Although it was quite large and fluffy, Gwai Fei would have preferred something more valuable and not as worthless. "A warning letter?" she shouts after opening the envelope that Ying Gei handed to her earlier.
"You came late," Wong Sheung explains.
"Mr. Wong! I suffered from racial profiling this morning! I was being a good citizen and driving to work when a policeman pulls me over and accuses me of being drunk! Please forgive me! It wasn't my fault. Mr. Wong!" Gwai Fei begs.
"Racial profiling?" Wong Sheung laughs, "Where do you think we are?"
"I meant... he targeted me because he hates rich people! Please, Mr. Wong!"
"No excuses." Wong Sheung turns his head away.
"Oh! How thoughtful," Gwai Yan smiles at a make-up kit.
Ying Gei winks at Gwai Yan, "Use it. It'll help you... and us."
"So you got me this!" Gwai Yan points at Ying Gei.
"Whoops!" Ying Gei blushes.
"Einstein! Did you forget the point of this game?" Gam scolds.
"Sorry!"
"Well, it's not a big deal. As long as the rest of us don't know who our 'Secret Santa' is, it's okay!" Wong Sheung insists.
Love Sister (Yu Mo Lin) shows off her new cleaning kit, "I'm already using my handy gifts!"
"GiGi, you didn't get anything?" Joey asks.
"I did. I got a gift certificate to a salon along with some shampoos and other hair products."
"You're always changing your hairstyle, so it's the best gift for you!"
Whether they were satisfied or not, everyone in "Ka Yan" had a present. Soon, Christmas would be over and the new year would come sweeping in. Whether their 'Secret Santa' would ever be revealed was a question yet to be answered. Until then, the "Ka Yan" employees partied, some in sheer celebratory mode and others in wonder. Each present represented a different tension and had an underlying meaning.
