Fiona (Sherming Yiu) wakes up with cold sweat. The memories still terrified her, even though six months had passed since that time. Her stomach felt nauseated, so she called into her job and told them that she was sick. Her head ached terribly.
[Kam Family Apartment]
Despite their worries for Fiona, the Kams continued their day as if nothing had happened. They gave up on trying to talk to her because they knew she wouldn't open up. Nim Chi (Nancy Sit) told them to leave Fiona alone and that she would come to them if she needed to.
"So is everything back to normal?" Ah Hong (Johnny Tang) asks.
Nim Chi says, "Yes... until Fiona approaches us about her problems."
"You people are so selfish!" Rose (Kenix Kwok) sighs.
"People are like that. When the problem doesn't directly concern them, they could care less, isn't that right?" Gam explains.
"I wonder what happened between Fiona and the Empress," Ah Yat (Joyce Chen) ponders.
"From what we heard last night, it's clear that she's an evil witch who harmed Fiona in the past. Some aunt, eh?" Ah Yuet (Michael Tse) says.
Gam nods his head, "She's so evil that she could be related to Ah Lo!"
Ah Lo bitingly remarks, "If you keep saying such things, you'll be damned and never have a child! If you do, he won't have a you-know-what!"
"Poor Fiona," Ah Yat adds. "I wish she would tell us what happened. Even big big brother wouldn't tell us anything. It must be something big."
"Another selfish person," Ah Lo says.
"What? Me?" Ah Yat asks.
"You just want to hear what happened because it's 'juicy' and then you'll use the ideas to create some ridiculous drama for TVB," Ah Lo answers.
"I know! We could call Ah Sing and ask!" Ying Gei (Yvonne Lam) suggests.
"If Fiona won't talk, what makes you think big big brother will talk?" Ah Yuet asks.
"Because the problem doesn't directly concern Ah Sing! He won't mind and spill the details for us!" Ying Gei beams.
The doorbell rings multiple times, but no one moves from the table to answer it.
"Are you people deaf? The doorbell is ringing!" Rose scolds.
"Yes, why don't you go open it?"
"I'm busy eating!" Rose answers.
"And so are we."
The doorbell continues to ring. Nim Chi gets frustrated and yells, "In a small family, it's believable that it would take long to answer the door or the telephone, but in our family of nine people and four children, there's no excuse!" Nim Chi decides to get up and answer the door herself, but Foon Foon and Hei Hei beat her to it. They get up from their small children's table and run to answer the door. Because they were still too short, they couldn't reach the doorknob to turn it open. Nim Chi smiles seeing how cute the two of them are. "Look at Foon Foon and Hei Hei! Even they are more responsible than you are." Nim Chi opens the door, but quickly closes it when she sees who's on the other side.
"Ma Chi, who is it?" Ah Nin (Frankie Lam) questions.
Nim Chi is fear-stricken, "I-i-it's the conniving woman!"
"Oh, Ah Lo's mother came to visit so early?" Ying Gei asks.
"No! The other one! Fiona's aunt!" Nim Chi blurts out.
"Oh my god! Don't ever open the door!"
"What are we to do?"
"If we let her in, she'll kill us!"
"Yes, she's evil! She'll do anything. Evil people don't have a heart."
"Ma Chi! Call the police!"
"The police?" Nim Chi asks.
"Yes!"
"She wants to harm us! Only the police can save us now."
The doorbell starts ringing again.
"It's useless! Even though the Hong Kong police team is great, they will not arrive in time! What if she gets nasty and breaks down our door? Then we'll have to pay for a new one! I say we just open up and let her in!" Nim Chi concludes. She sums up her courage and opens the door. With a smile she greets, "Good morning."
Suet Ching (Rebecca Chan), On Gong Gong (Bowie Lam), and the guards enter the Kams' apartment. Nim Chi ushers them to the couch and asks what they wanted to drink. The Kams' knees shake and they all get up from the table and throw themselves onto the ground, "Your Majesty, we're at your service," they repeat another "War and Beauty" phrase. At the face of power, the Kams automatically turned into cowards.
Suet Ching smiles, "Don't be so formal! Up, all of you!" She points to Nim Chi, "Come, sit down with me."
Nim Chi giggles, her voice both terrified and embarrassed, "Me?"
Suet Ching nods.
Gam pushes Nim Chi forward, "You're the oldest person here! You should represent us!"
Ah Yuet clears his throat, "It's time to go to work! We're going to be late. Ma Chi, see you later!"
Everyone rushes out of the house and leaves Nim Chi alone with Suet Ching and her people.
"Am I really so scary?" Suet Ching's sad eyes meet Nim Chi's.
"No! Of course not."
"Then why did everyone run away?"
"They have to go to work! Your Majesty, we're not blessed like you. We have to work to earn a living and survive."
"That's the biggest misunderstanding."
"What?"
"People think I don't have to work and that I just enjoy wealth, but that's not the case. I have the job of running the entire Island and keeping up its face and success. It's tiring, but that's what I get for being the 'Island Chief.'"
Nim Chi is touched hearing Suet Ching confessing her deepest thoughts and says, "But I thought you wanted the job."
"That, too, is also a misconception. I don't know what my niece told you, but I never wanted the crown."
"Then why...?"
Suet Ching explains, "My brother, her father, asked me to take over the throne until I felt that Fiona was 'of age' and then return the throne to her."
"Fiona told me that she was exiled and stripped of her 'princess' title."
"It was all an act... she misunderstood," Suet Ching says.
"An act?"
"Yes. Her father wanted her to understand the world before she reined the Island. Thus, we had to put up an act to fool her. I was given the role of the 'evil aunt' who conspired against her to take the crown. Fiona believed this and left the Island thinking I was evil and that she was no longer the Princess..." her voice trails.
"Oh my. So it was all a misunderstanding?"
Suet Ching sadly nods her head.
"Well, this proves she is clearly a Kam family member!" Nim Chi laughs. Misunderstandings were a big part of the Kams' lives.
"I came to Hong Kong to take her back to the Island, but she doesn't believe me."
"Yesterday, we heard that you told her that the Island was in a state of chaos and that the throne would be pass on to someone else if Fiona didn't come back to the Island to reinstate tranquility. I don't get it?" Nim Chi is confused.
Suet Ching bites her lip. She didn't expect that they had been eavesdropping. She finally replies, "It's because Fiona was written in her father's will as the heir and that I'm only a regent until she comes of age. The Imperial Court is accusing me of seizing power and not taking care of the dying Island Chief's wishes. Fiona needs to come back and confirm that she will become the ruler in a few more years."
"But I heard Fiona say that her father died?"
"That's what Fiona thinks, but that's not the case. Her father is still alive, but he's very weak and doesn't know anything."
"Oh?"
"His brain tumor has become incurable and he's in much pain. He wants to see Fiona for the last time."
"My goodness," Nim Chi is saddened by the news.
"Will you help me talk with Fiona and bring her back to the Island? It's very crucial," Suet Ching pleads.
"I can't believe this was all a misunderstanding. So Fiona is still the Princess?"
"Of course."
Nim Chi smiles, "All right, I will help you. I think it's terrible how this is all just a misunderstanding!"
