Sitting behind her desk, Man Gwai Fei (Stephanie Che) bites her nails. She was panicking because she had lied to Wong Sheung (Lau Dan). She didn't have an appointment with a client in Canada nor was she currently negotiating any big deals. "God! What am I going to do?" Gwai Fei was so upset that she pulled out the chicken leg from her desk drawer that she was saving for later that day.
Gwai Fei chomps down on the drumstick. Grease smeared over her hands and mouth. Gwai Fei finishes half of the drumstick before deciding to stop eating. She told herself that the rest of it would be saved for later as a treat. For the time being, she had to figure out a solution to her problem. She promised Wong Sheung a big business contract and that she would be discussing it in Canada. She decides to flip through her contact book and try to find any old "Ka Yan" client from Canada. She figures that with her beauty, she would get a deal in no time.
Someone knocks on her door while Gwai Fei was flipping through the book. She quickly wipes her mouth and hands and says, "Come in!"
Gwai Yan (Celine Ma) enters Gwai Fei's office. "Fei Fei!" she beams.
"What the hell are you so damn cheerful about?"
Gwai Yan shakes her head, "You've been eating a chicken leg again?" She points to the grease on Gwai Fei's desk. "Fei Fei, if you're going to eat in the office, do so with dignity and candidly! There's no need to hide it! Imagine all of the germs and dust that accumulate in your food when you store it in your desk!" Gwai Yan shudders, "Don't you know anything about sanitation and health? No wonder there is a big pimple growing on your hand! You don't even bother to wash it after and before you eat."
Gwai Fei rolls her eyes, "And who are you? You're too stupid to be a doctor."
"Fei Fei, no need to get nasty. I'm just trying to help my dear younger cousin out."
"What do you want?"
"Nothing."
"Then get out! I'm busy!"
Gwai Yan notices the booklet of business cards on Gwai Fei's desk. She picks it up and points to a man, "I know him!"
"What? Who?" Gwai Fei jumps up.
"Mr. Lau from 'L&G' in Canada," Gwai Yan smiles proudly.
"How do you know him?"
"Being as popular and beautiful as I am, of course people know who I am!"
"Yan Yan, I could kiss you right now!"
"Oh god! Don't, Fei Fei! Do you think we're in 2003 at the MTV Video Music Awards? This is not the opening performance and I am not Madonna and you are definitely not hot like Britney Spears. Well, I suppose you could be Christina Aguilera, but who remembers her..."
Gwai Fei rolls her eyes and dials the phone number to "L&G" company. When the secretary speaks, she says sweetly, "Hello, this is Athena Man from 'Ka Yan' company in Hong Kong. Yes, I would like to make an appointment to discuss some business with Mr. Lau for the day after tomorrow. What? He's busy? No, no, I don't think you understand. We cooperated with Mr. Lau before and the business was quite good." Gwai Fei decides to add, "My cousin is also good friends with Mr. Lau. Who is my cousin? Man Gwai Yan."
The secretary blurts out, "I'll transfer you to Mr. Lau right away."
"Thank you." Gwai Fei beams. "Hello? Mr. Lau? Yes, Man Gwai Yan is indeed my cousin. Would you like to speak with her to confirm her identity and verify that she's my cousin?" Gwai Fei thrusts the phone into Gwai Yan's hands. "Speak!" she orders in a hushed tone.
Gwai Yan clears her throat and bats her eyes. She makes her voice sound soft, delicate, and high, "Mr. Lau. It's been so long since I've last seen you! I would love to come with my cousin and visit you. What? You want to speak to my cousin again?" Gwai Yan hands back the phone.
"Mr. Lau? Yes? You'll agree to see me as long as I don't bring that ugly zombie along? Who? Oh! Don't worry! We're very, very, very, very distant cousins! Don't you worry about that. So we will talk at your company soon? Okay, good. Yes, I understand. The only thing is that I must never let you see the ugly zombie and keep her where she is. All right, thank you so much." Gwai Fei exhales an air of relief.
Gwai Yan smiles, "Aren't you happy to have me around? I helped you get an appointment with a big client!"
[Main Interior]
"Rose," Gwai Fei calls as she exits her office.
"Miss Man?" Rose (Kenix Kwok) asks as she looks up from her drawing desk.
"Pack your bags. We're leaving for Canada tomorrow morning," Gwai Fei says simply.
"What! Why?"
"We have urgent business to discuss with 'L&G' company over there."
"You didn't mention anything about this."
"I'm your supervisor! Do I have to report or ask you about every action that I make? Pack your bags and be ready to fly."
"But!" Rose protests.
"No questions or objections. You work under me and you follow my orders. If not, I'll have to report it to Mr. Wong about your failure to complete the designated job that you were hired for and that you lost a big business for the company." Gwai Fei steps back into her office and slams the door shut.
Rose's eyes send curses into Gwai Fei's office.
[Kam Family Apartment]
"This is too sad!" Ying Gei (Yvonne Lam) wails at breakfast.
"Sister OK, don't tell me you are still sad about the ending to that drama last night!" Ah Yat (Joyce Chen) shakes her head.
"No, so sad for Rose and Chris! They have to part now."
"It's only for a few days, a week at the maximum," Rose smiles.
"I don't think you understand. You're going on a business trip with Miss Man. Do you know what this means?" Ah Lo (Bondy Chiu) asks.
"It means that I will be discussing business with a company in Canada. It's so simple. How can I not understand?" Rose laughs.
Ah Yuet (Michael Tse) clears his throat, "You will be alone with Miss Man for nearly a week. You will be so close to her that you will nearly be sleeping with her! No one has slept with Miss Man besides her bed and body pillow! Do you know what this means?"
Rose is confused, "What?"
"You're too naiive and innocent!" Ying Gei sighs.
Ah Yuet passes a first aid kit to Rose, "This is in case Miss Man gives you minor cuts or injuries."
Gam (Louis Yuen) hands Rose a phone number, "This is the number to the nearest mental institution to 'L&G' company. In case Miss Man drives you nuts, you will know where to check in. Better yet, you can check Miss Man in and our troubles will be over. Isn't that right?"
Ying Gei questions, "What wood is your favorite?"
"Why?"
"I want to know so that we can pick the perfect coffin of your most favorite wood for you," Ying Gei answers. "Being alone with Miss Man overseas is like taking a flight to death... similar to being on a flight is hijacked by terrorists. You will surely die... but that's not the point. In case of a sudden death, we want to have your final occasion be as special and ideal for you as it can be."
Nim Chi (Nancy Sit) scolds, "Touchwood! Stop saying ridiculous things! Rose will be fine."
Rose smiles and takes everyone's gifts, "I know. They all consider Miss Man the 'devil.' I thank everyone for your consideration and thoughtfulness, but don't worry! I will be fine." She gets up from the table and winks, "By the way, my favorite wood is maple."
[Bathroom]
Rose locks the door to the bathroom and turns the water in the sink and bathtub on. She tries to make as much noise as possible. She even flushes the toilet. When she's sure that there's a lot of noise, she heads over to the farthest corner in the bathroom and crouches down. She takes out her cell phone and calls Michael (Kevin Cheng). "Michael?"
"Miss Suen! I mean, Rose," Michael answers.
"I've told you many times to stop addressing me as 'Miss Suen.'"
"I know, but I can't help it. Hey, why is there so much noise in your background?"
"Good."
"Huh?"
"Michael, where are you at?"
"I'm in Shanghai doing something for Mr. Suen."
"What?" Rose exclaims.
"Rose, is something wrong?"
"I have to leave Hong Kong and go for a business trip to Canada. Chris will be alone."
"So you wanted me to look after him?" Michael asks.
"Well, that was the plan, but you're in Shanghai..."
"I'm sorry."
"It's all right. I'll figure out something else." Rose hangs up the phone in disappointment.
[Ah Nin & Rose's Bedroom]
"Chris, I don't want to part! We've been together since we've met," Rose whines as she hugs him.
Ah Nin (Frankie Lam) gives her an affectionate gaze, "Neither do I."
"How will you live without me?"
"Let's see, I will live as if I never met you." Ah Nin chuckles.
"What? So you'll forget about me?"
"Rose, it's going to be fine. It's only for a week."
"A full week! That's 604,800 seconds that I could have spent with you instead!"
Ah Nin takes out his cell phone and holds it out with his right hand. He positions it so that the camera on the phone is on the two of them. He plants a kiss on her lips and hits the button to capture the moment on his camera phone. Ah Nin sends the picture to Rose's phone. She receives the picture of them kissing. He sets the picture as his background. Ah Nin laughs, "Look at my phone! Now if any hot girls try to seduce me, I'll show it to them and they'll know I'm your property! Don't worry. Just have a safe trip and get the job done and you will be back in no time!"
Rose smiles and wraps her arms around Ah Nin's neck.
