...Where Are They Now?

Reunion of the god-mother-in-law & daughter-in-law!

"Ma Chi" Nancy Sit and "Ah Lam" Linda Chung have paired up again for a new series called Fei Sheung Ngoi Mo Ong Goo Yer. In this series, Nancy and Linda act as two mother-daughter fairies in heaven. Linda is curious about the happenings of the mortal world down on Earth, so she goes there one day... This is a comedy taking place in ancient and 1960's time periods. Also starring VOH II's Rain Lau! Set for release in 2007.

The return of an ancient Bernice Liu
Filming for her first ancient series since VOH I, "Princess" Bernice Liu sheds her "princess" character for a fierce role of a fighter for the series Devil's Disciple. Bernice pairs up with "Most Improved Actor 2005" Bosco Wong; since entering TVB in 2001, Bosco is the first actor that Bernice has paired up that's a newcomer and around her age. Her past male partners, Virtues's Frankie Lam, Love Bond & Healing Hands III Moses Chan, and Into Thin Air Kenneth Ma, were all in the thirties.

Sexy! "Third missy" is all grown up
"Ah Yat" Joyce Chen struts her stuff after successfully slimming down. Appearing in a number of sexy photoshoots as a spokesperson for her slimming pills, Joyce has gained confidence in herself and has earned more money. She's looking good.

Steven back with a vengeance
After taking a year off from TVB between 2003 and 2004 and returning to the TVB audience with Virtues, "Ah San" Steven Ma is officially back and signed with TVB again. When he temporarily left TVB, Steven was one of its top actors. While he's still one of their leading men, Steven's position has been toppled a little. However, I'm confident that Steven will regain his position in TVB, just like how "Ah San" reclaimed his fortune and family business. Catch him in 2006 series Safe Guards (with Elaine Yiu) and Land Of Wealth (with Moses Chan, Sonija Kwok, and Tavia Yeung).

Aging like fine wine
"Bo Fei" Maggie Siu proves that she can still battle with the young newcomers. With her newly slimmed and breast-enhanced body, Maggie isn't afraid to reveal her new assests. As a spokesperson for Mariane Chan's LF company (Bernice Liu was also a spokesperson for Mariane's company in 2002), Maggie radiates with confidence and beauty. Although she's nearing forty, Maggie looks as good as ever.

Bringing in 2006 still happily hosting
In early 2004, "Ah Mei" Cutie Mui departed from Virtues to leave TVB's drama department and become an MC and partake in TVB's variety shows. Still hosting and enjoying her participation in TVB's variety shows, Cutie shows that her decision to leave was sincere. It's nice that she is indeed whole-heartedly pursuing her passion. Cutie has also taken up surfing and has won a competition. She says it was the first award she has ever gotten. Recently, Cutie hosted TVB's 2006 Countdown along with Liza Wang and Chin Ka Lok. (In 2003, the Virtues family hosted the program to countdown to 2004.)

Producer Tsui's working on a Shanghai drama!
For the first time in several series, Virtues producer Tsui Yu On is working on a serious drama! Titled Cheen Fong Baak Gai, this Shanghai period drama stars Bosco Wong, Shirley Yeung, Sammul Chan, and Kate Tsui. While Producer Tsui is also known for the long-running family drama A Kindred Spirit, his last drama before spending four years on Virtues was 2000 hit Return of the Cuckoo (with Nancy Sit, Julian Cheung, and Charmaine Sheh). In this series, Shirley's character is a musical prodigy, but she's a mute. Kate's character is a pretty girl with split personality. This is Producer Tsui's second series since Virtues and again, he casts Shirley for a leading role; it's not surprising because Shirley was one of the original gueststars that he had intended for the series. Also in the cast is "auntie" Kingdom Yuen. Hopefully, we'll see a serious Kingdom for a change because her dramatic acting talents are as wonderful as her comedy skills! With such interesting characterizations and nice costumes, this should prove to be a good series!

Two wives is not enough?!
Following the footsteps of his "big brother," "Ah Yuet" Michael Tse married his girlfriend of over twelve-years, Tina Lee, in January 2005. His "brothers" for the wedding ceremony included Timmy Hung, Louis Yuen, and Johnny Tang. "Ah Lo" even took part in the ceremony! After fighting for "Ah Yuet"'s affections for years, can you believe "Ah Lo" is giving away her husband? Bondy Chiu led the "sisters" for Michael's wife. Couple Michael and Tina had a happy and joyous wedding. Married for one year now, let's wish them a long and fruitful marriage! Hopefully Michael won't pull anything fishy like "Ah Yuet" and get himself a concubine...

See "Sek Biu" do "real kung fu!"
With a background in martial arts and a father who's a famous martial arts movie legend (Sammo Hung), it's no surprise that "Sek Biu" Timmy Hung was casted in TVB's 2005 Anniversary series Real Kung Fu doing, well, "real kung-fu!" This is Timmy's first series since Virtues in 2002, so watch this series if you want to see "Ah Biu" actually fighting. Although it does make one wonder whether his fighting scenes in VOH I were real or not.

Our "Princess" is a winner in every way
Since entering the entertainment industry in 2001 with a debut role as a princess, "Princess" Bernice Liu has been as popular and loved like the royalty that was her very first role. While she lost out on the "Most Improved Actress" award again at the 2005 TVB Anniversary, Bernice won "Most Popular Actress" for the Metro Showbiz Television Awards, making this her first award in 2006. Our "Princess" charmed her way to people's hearts with her roles in Love Bond, Healing Hands III, and Into Thin Air in 2005. In 2006, Bernice hopes to enter the music industry and to film more series. She is also being considered for an American production of Miss Saigon and if things go well, Bernice would well be on her way towards Hollywood! TVB released a set of 8 red packets featuring the top four of their young generation leading men and ladies, the eight people that were chosen brought in money for TVB in the last 8 years and TVB hopes to promote them. Naturally, our "Princess" was included!

The return of Stephanie Che
Since the end of Virtues, Stephanie Che seemingly disappeared from the entertainment world. With no news or functions for well over the past year, it almost seems as if Stephanie quit! Luckily, it turns out that she's still around and her first role since VOH and her fourth series for TVB is Under The Canopy of Love. It seems that she was filming for this series in the shadow! Co-starring with Kevin Cheng, Niki Chow, and Bosco Wong, this is a romantic series about a complicated love triangle among the three leads. As of the time of posting, it's unknown what Stephanie's role is and how much screentime she has, but Canopy will be released in March 2006, so do check it out to see "Man Gwai Fei" in action again! Hopefully she'll get some recognition from the role, but in any case, it's just nice to see her again in a new series.

Together... for one last time
In late March 2006, "Foo Ma" Frankie Lam and "Princess" Bernice Liu appeared together as guests for a Foshan TV event. Frankie praised Bernice for being pretty and a good actress. He then expressed that his TVB contract was going to expire in April and that he didn't intend to renew it. He said that he planned to break into the mainland China market and that he was going to head for Shanghai to film a new series there! Just like "Ah Nin" left Ka Yan company to go work in Shanghai in hopes of new opportunities and progress, Frankie is leaving TVB for Shanghai... (Isn't it weird how it's so coincidental that the first place he's going to film is Shanghai?) Frankie's last TVB series (for now) is Forensic Heroes in which he pairs with the other VOH beauty, Linda Chung. Guess it's concrete now that "Chris" and "Joey" will never be together again. I suppose their chemistry and romance was only a once-in-a-lifetime thing.

Our award-winning beauties
Next Magazine announced the winners for its annual awards in late March 2006. Every year since Virtues's debut in 2001, it has landed an award from this magazine. However, because Virtues has concluded, it wasn't in the magazine this year. Still, Virtues has a chance to shine as its two beauties graced the pages of Next Magazine and won four awards. "Princess" Bernice Liu entered the Top 10 TV Artists list with 1,715 votes, entitling her to a nice #8 spot. Virtues alumni Myolie Wu and Bosco Wong were the only other two "newcomers" on the list. Linda Chung was the recipient of the Most Clear Skin Award. It was noticeable during the last couple episodes of VOH II that Linda's skin had acne and in Always Ready, it was even more evident that Linda has a skin problem. This problem diminished her beauty somewhat. Luckily, she received professional treatment for her skin and now has silky, smooth, and white skin. The Biter Bitten reflects how much Linda's skin has improved and show that she is worthy of this award. With her grace, charm, and bubbling personality, Bernice was awarded the Most Star Drills Charm Award. Linda's series Always Ready achieved a #9 spot on the Top 10 TV Shows/Dramas, which was surprising because the series had garned low ratings during its air in Hong Kong. Our beauties have done well, so let's give them a big round of applause for their success and may the popularity and awards keep coming!

"Ah Lo" will not act in series anymore
In late February 2006, "Ah Lo" Bondy Chiu appeared with "Ah Yat" Joyce Chen at a promotional event for the Walker Shop and announced a most depressing news. She declared that her contract with TVB expired and that she had no plans on acting in any TV series in the near future. Bondy fans had all hoped that she would act in more series and show people her exquisite acting after Virtues concluded last year. Instead, she almost disappeared from the media's eye and only started to re-emerge towards late 2005 and early 2006 with the release of her new song/remake (Best Position) and plans to launch a new CD to revive her music career. Now, Bondy has announced that she will try to break into the business world and help her friend manage a public relations firm. TVB has lost yet another talent, but it's good for Bondy to want to advance herself! The entertainment industry is not very permanent, so it's nice for her to have back-up. Maybe she will become a successful business woman like ex-TVB fa dan Mariane Chan! In other news, she is still in a stable relationship with her boyfriend (who is not in the entertainment industry but has dated her for over 2 years now). While it seems that she may be retiring from the entertainment circle, Bondy says she's not. She's only taking a temporary break, but for now, there's no more acting coming from her. Let's wish Bondy good luck! Although she will be missed, it's better for her to move on.

"Ah Sing" leaves his family once again
"Big big brother" Hawick Lau returned to Hong Kong in late March. In the summer of 2004, he left VOH II because he wanted a 6-months leave from TVB to film series elsewhere. This 6-months extended into over a year! Now that he's back, Hawick has made another move. He has left the Kams and has now left the TVB family for ATV. Virtues alumni Patricia Liu signed with ATV along with him. Perhaps Hawick will become a leading man now that he's with ATV. Two more talents that TVB seemed to have been promoting have left TVB.

"Princess" - singing is now her passion?
Bernice Liu won 2 awards at Jade Solid Gold's First Season Awards night in early April 2006. Her first hit single Sincerity, which had served as the themesong to series Into Thin Air, won an award and she received a "New Star Award!" These awards are Bernice's first since trying to break into the music industry. Congratulations, "Princess!" In late 2005, everyone was shocked at hearing the news that Bernice sang the themesong to Into Thin Air and people started to fall in love with the song and her singing. Everyone in the VOH community already knew since 2003 that "Princess" had a nice voice! TVB is trying to propel Bernice into the music industry. She has two songs on the upcoming TVB CD Lui Yi Hong and has been appearing more and more at music/dance-related functions. One of Bernice's idols is Britney Spears, so will she become a Hong Kong Britney in terms of music sales and popularity (and sex appeal)? First acting and now singing, our "Princess" is just so talented in many ways! With her charm and beauty, she will go far.
